Trickle charging a genesis G90, 2023

I will be out of town for a few months and I'm worried about leaving the car without driving. I would like to put on a trickle charger. Is this possible? Can I do it through the jumpstart ports under the hood? Do I need a certain type of trickle charger?
 
Yes, it's possible. Yes, you'd use the jumpstart ports under the hood. Yes, you need a trickle charger that has an AGM selection as these cars use an 12V AGM battery.
 
I tried a one amp slow charger for 12 hours without much success. I am sure it was something i did though.

Were you trying to charge a dead battery? I'm not sure if 1A for 12 hours would be enough for one that's discharged to the point it doesn't start the car.
 
These "ports under the hood", are they located in the fuse box on the passenger side of the engine compartment next to the air filter? Inside the box there is a flat post that sticks up. My meter says this is the positive post. So for the negative, just ground it as best you can? There is no post inside the box on my car.

I don’t know if this helps but in my G70 the negative post is not inside the box. See the manual pic below

From your owner's manual, "B" is the negative terminal.

The one on the right actually looks more like the illustration from the manual.
Either should work, but the one you circled looks like a bolt working its way out.

Nope, going from a "low battery" (or low voltage, whatever the warning was) warning notice sent to my phone, to 11.9. But it had started right up when I returned from my trip and put it on the 1 amp charger.

If the battery is completely dead you cannot trickle charge it. I suggest jumping it and driving it some to charge the battery and then apply the trickle charger. I had that issue with an idle Subaru recently and once the trickly charger works, it continues to work witha 1A unit.

1 amp will do it if you have the time. According to the attached chart from NOCO for an 80 amp hour car battery with 50% depth of discharge, a 1 amp trickle charger may take 60 hours to fully charge. That's great if you're on vacation for a few days or weeks (slower is better), but not good if you plan to use the car the next day.
NOCO recommended a 5 amp charger for my GV70 for overnight charging.

Yes 1A is enough from a 50% battery - but if the battery is completely flat, 1A will not do anything to it, even after weeks on the charger.
