In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I'm in the market to purchase 2nd Gen Genesis sedan but want to know which trim levels have the console knob for navigating the entertainment options. Some I have seen do not have the console knob.

Hi Rambo, the center console controller gets added with the Ultimate Package (see below):

Standard features for the Genesis 3.8 include 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, a rearview camera, heated mirrors, automatic wipers, cruise control, automatic climate control, keyless ignition and entry, heated eight-way power front seats with four-way power lumbar, leather upholstery, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a touchscreen interface, a navigation system, real-time traffic, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, Hyundai's Blue Link emergency telematics system, and a seven-speaker audio system with a CD player, an auxiliary audio jack, a USB/iPod interface, HD radio and satellite radio.

The Genesis 3.8 can be equipped with three option packages: Signature, Tech and Ultimate.

The Signature package adds a panoramic sunroof, auto-leveling HID headlights, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, high-intensity headlights, blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert systems, ventilated front seats, driver memory functions, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a power rear sunshade, manual side window shades and a premium Lexicon 14-speaker surround-sound audio system.

The Tech package requires the Signature package, and adds automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, a lane-departure warning system with lane-keeping assist, front and rear parking sensors, an automatic emergency braking system, an electronic parking brake, automatic vehicle hold function (allows a driver to remove their foot from the brake while stopped), upgraded leather upholstery, additional driver seat adjustments (cushion extension and side bolsters) and an upgraded 7-inch display for the gauge cluster.

The Ultimate package requires both the Signature and Tech packages. It adds a power trunk lid, dual-zone automatic climate control, a color head-up windshield display, an upgraded navigation system with a center console multifunction controller and a bigger display, matte-finish wood and aluminum trim, a carbon dioxide sensor for the climate-control system and a Lexicon 17-speaker surround-sound audio system.

All-wheel drive can be added to any Genesis 3.8 and with it comes headlight washers, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel.

The Genesis 5.0 has all the content of the Signature and Technology packages and adds a 5.0-liter V8, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED foglamps, illuminated door-sill plates and the matte wood and aluminum trim. The Ultimate package for the Genesis 5.0 takes all the content of the 3.8 model's Ultimate version and adds driver-selectable suspension adjustment.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I purchased a 2015 3.8 with Ultimate Pkg last night. I can't say that it would have been a deal breaker for the Android play. I was floored by all the amenities in this vehicle! I believe I chose right. One other question so I can use the correct lingo. You refer to the 9.2 "jog" controller. I don't know the correct name for it and reserved about calling it I-drive. LOL

I think that Hyundai (Genesis) calls it the "DIS Multimedia Controller". I came from Mercedes so I'm use to calling it Command Control. :)

Great choice buying the 2015 Ultimate 3.8. Fantastic car. Make sure you get an extended warranty that covers the electronics if you keep the car past the 5/60.

The electronics warranty for the ‘15 Genesis only lasts 3/36,000, so it has already expired. But getting an extended warranty NOW is good advice.

I understood the 2015 head unit warranty is 3/36 and the rest of the electronics are 5/60.

My two cents..The head unit costs around 3k to replace, and 5 year for the rest (?maybe? YMMV), is fast approaching as 2020 is just around the corner...

Thanks everyone, just went in for quote on ext. warranty, cost thru Hyun was $4K for 84mon/75K miles? Any thoughts?

Sounds surprisingly high to me. Did they run your vehicle's VIN to obtain that? Prices vary of course based on whether CPO, mileage, etc. which is why they run the VIN, as mileage keeps changing too.

I'm shopping this as well after finding out the dealer tried to slip me a 3rd-party plan and passed it off as the HPP "Wrap" that I asked for and was extremely clear about. So I'm in the middle of a mess canceling all of their contracts and have been directly in contact with Hyundai Customer Care and they opened a complaint case to help me get this resolved.

I was just quoted locally on my recent '16 Ultimate at $2739 for the 10/100 with zero deductible. The local dealer told me they have two Platinum CPO Wrap versions, 10/100 and 10/120, and both come in 0/50/100 deductibles. They have Gold plans too that cover less.

Yes they ran my VIN and I thought it was high as well. This is my 1st time with Hyundai though, so wanted to see if anyone else had an opinion. For my Chevy there was a dealer on the forum that gave lower prices than any others.

I'm fairly new here (4 mos) but have seen numerous mentions of HPP Warranties (the one to get) across several threads. Word is Jim Ellis in Atlanta has provided some good deals - I've reached out and left messages yet never heard back. I'm curious if all dealers will get the same quote when they run the VIN, but have yet to see that discussed. Probably need to start a new thread for this and hope the experts chime in with facts and figures and maybe some good contacts.

In general, Florida is not the state in which to buy an extended warranty or service plan. The insurance industry has brought about state legislation that makes them insurance plans, which cannot be bargained on. Florida dealers' hands are tied, as much as they may want to compete in the market.
In my own experience as a "retro" Ford TBird owner, such plans are sought after to keep 10 to 15 year-old cars on the road economically. We can buy the plans from out-of-state Ford dealers, who are willing to bargain for the business, for much less. These are Ford factory programs, honored anywhere without question, and we can save as much as half the price on the plan.
If I keep my Genny past its warranty, I hope the situation will be the same for us, and we can shop out-of-state for Genesis/Hyundai dealers willing to compete in the market.

Dai Uy Ted thanks for that info. I'm gonna give it a try right now!

Agreed Ted. I'm working on finding that out very soon, as I'm shopping the plan now since the dealer stuck me with a 3rd party plan while pretending it was the HPP CPO Wrap I was purchasing the entire time. Had I not looked at the paperwork extremely closely the following evening and calling Hyundai Customer Care, I would not have known. Complete loss of trust with them now, but luckily the car is great.

Good thing for us here is we have Florida Statute Section 634.121 allowing for cancellation and refund during the first 60 days at 100% of the gross premium paid (with the exception of a reasonable admin fee not to exceed 5%) of any Motor Vehicle Service Contracts.

I got one quote out of state so far but if you multiply the coverage it's actually not better in cost.

2yr/25K $1600 ($800yr) vs FL 6yr/60K $3750 ($624yr) or 7yr/75K $4230 ($603yr)

Hmm, interesting. There are many variables at play I believe, i.e. CPO, mileage, date of original mfg and/or in-service date, etc. But those numbers sound rather high in comparison to the quotes I got last week locally:

HPP Platinum CPO Wrap
10/100 and 10/120
Deductibles:
$0 $2739 $3075
$50 $2638 $2992
$100 $2571 $2943

This is for a '16 Ultimate RWD with ~38,000 mi, 2nd owner, 3yrs+1mo in-service.

Not sure if the plus ~25k miles creates the rise in price, but would seem these things factor in. Seems counterintuitive to think since yours has only 38/58k (100/120) miles left to cover that possibly the warranty cost would drop, yet most likely they know the odds of something major happening may come sooner with the higher miles. It's got me scratching...
