  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Trouble Ahead? We'll see....

Went to the dealer this am regarding my bumper issue and they were very fair. They will be checking with the local Schneider's (whom I've used before and were good) to arrange for a rental, an to check Schneider's current workload to hold the car in as little time as possible. The bumper will be repainted. It's a shame a new car has to already be repainted...no owner likes to think of having nothing as original but honestly, I can't fault them for not noticing the ripples in the bumper paint when I wouldn't have even noticed it had I not been under a canopy and filling my gas tank at the same time. When it's under those conditions where the light is not shining on the bumper, it's very easy to see.

I continue to enjoy the car and have familiarized myself with all the technology inside (which I appreciate). Couple of things I still can't quite figure out (like why the previous destinations window pop up comes up every time I view the nav map that I'd like not to happen). All in all, it's a smooth riding, quiet car with a unique look. Any potential regrets? Perhaps...I saw the Empire State Gray color with Black interior this morning at the dealer on a 3.8. If they had that in a 5.0 I would have been very tempted. I much prefer the consistent metallic in that gray color (like a silver sheen) over the blacks Christmas-tree like metallic colors in the paint. That said, I've also received a number of compliments of the metallic colors in the black where that is some people's preference. It's a fun car to drive and I'm hoping to take it on a longer trip soon where I can appreciate all it has to offer.

That is good news. Regarding your Nav issues. I recently read in another post that the earlier model years have a setting that allows you to turn off that pop up. I would presume the new model does as well. Check it out and let us know when you get a chance.

I'm glad that you and the dealer were able to come to an amicable resolution. I think that this is the best solution to the issue.

With the complexity of the metal flake in the black paint that you have described you will want to be extra sure that the paint shop does a perfect match. Are they going to try to blend the paint into the adjacent panels or just paint the affected portion?

As for the Empire grey color it was one of the first that my wife and I test drove and was one of our favorite colors. Unfortunately they were very hard to find with our preferred option package so we went with the lighter Parisian grey instead.

They have to paint the entire bumper panel not just the area. Congrats on your new trunk wings as well!

I checked out the menus today and nothing under Navigation or general settings shows anything that I can see that allows you to select whether or not previous destinations preview automatically or not. At least I didn't see anything and I went through the menus a couple of times.

Here was his post regarding the early model Genesis and the NAV issue:

"Funny enough, the very same thing happened on my new 2013 R-Spec for almost a month, it drove me bonkers , with no time until last weekend when I broke down and RT#M for the NAV!

On 2013 R-Spec NAVI HOME -> SETUP -> MAIN -> unchecked the "Display Previous Destination" (alas no more scroll down and press cancel ).

I would imagine there should be some equivalent setting on the 2015 ."

I hope there is but I couldn't find it either. I did find out you can turn off the puddle lights and music when you unlock. Apparently, the auto trunk open feature is not enabled by default. I had to check that box. Nothing on nav, though.

Just delete previous destinations from the menu. They won't show up again, and you already know how to get there. If you don't, then put in the destination again... better than the "every day" frustration you're experiencing.

I had figured that avenue out...but preferred not to manually handle this each time I finish a route.

Sorry for the repeat post. I posted it here first before realizing it belonged in another thread. I don't know how to remove it.

I figured it out! On the base model head unit there is a "setup" button to the right of the cd loading area. Never noticed the button before (or the CD player for that matter) with all the other buttons in that area. The setup button brings you to a different menu where you can select nav and change additional settings. You can un - check the box for display previous destinations. FTW!

thank you!!!!!!

I was relieved too. The worst part was I had spent plenty of seat time trying to see what settings could be adjusted and never noticed it. It wasn't until my 12 yr old son was in the car with me on a 200 mile trip and testing out every button he could find that it finally caught my eye. BTW, you might be surprised how "adjustable"the passenger seat is when driven by a 12 yr old.

I have to have my son change my clock setting in my F250 :D
