If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have read all the post about install an after market sub on this site. I have a 09 3.8L V6 with premium and tech packs. I have installed HU in cars before but not an amp. Anyway, I have everything connected. The amp is getting power. I taped the line output converter from the green and black wires coming from the factory subwoofer and connect to the amp with RCA cables. I get no sound. So I thought it might be the cheap amp I brought, so I changed amps. Still no sound. Next I changed out the line output converter think it may be a defective unit. Still no sound. I'm running my sub in bridged mode. Here is the set up I have:

Amp: PowerBass ASA 600.2x
Auto Sound 2-Channel Class A/B Car Amplifier
RMS Power Rating:
4 ohms: 150 watts x 2 chan.
2 ohms: 300 watts x 2 chan.
Bridged, 4 ohms: 600 watts x 1 chan.
Max power output: 1200 watts

Sub: Infinity Reference 1262W
12" Dual 4 Ohm Reference Series Subwoofer
Power Handling:
Peak: 1200 watts
RMS: 300 watts
Impedance: Dual 4 Ohm

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

I have read something about people having trouble getting a good high-level signal with the Lexicon systems. Subscribed for more info.

FYI - move this to the audio section.

Did you connect the remote (blue) wire to your amp?

The amp is powering on and the remote wire is connected. With the first amp I had, It would work for one song then just stop. I still had power to the amp just no sound from the sub. That's when I started switch out things, first tried another amp, then another sub, then the LOC. I did talk to an installer and he said that the signal from the factory sub could be too weak. But it seems that almost everyone with a Genesis installs there sub this way. I can provide pictures of the install if needed.

Did you get a PAC LOC? They say that if you get no sound, then ground the brown wires. Did you try that?

I did have a PAC LOC, but I changed it out for another brand. The new one does have 2 brown ground wires. Should I ground both wires with the other ground wire running to the amp or ground them separately?

I was thinking about something while installing a stereo in a friend's car. Did you completely disconnect the Lexicon subwoofer? If so, connect it back because the Lexicon amp might be shutting down that channel if it isn't receiving a specific feedback from the Lexicon sub. If the channel is shut down, your aftermarket amp receives no signal.

Let me know.

Great point, I have my "extra" sub tied to the Lexicon sub vs ripping out the dash for install etc.

Did you ever write up a "how to" as far as where you tapped the signal wires, etc.

No I didn't. Had a friend to my install. I do know that the remote wire is in the passenger side fuse panel though.

Running a 12" square Kicker L5 with Alpine amp.

Doesn't matter. I usually ground them separately. Check your instructions on that brand you're using first to see if that's what the brown wires call for.

I have ground the brown wire, still no sound. When I have the time I'll take it to a pro installer to take a look, thanks for all the advice, I'll keep you posted.

Didn't see your answer to the one question I asked above. Is the Lexicon sub still hooked up?

Sorry, yes the Lexicon sub is still hooked up and I'm getting sound from that sub.

Interesting. Please let us know what you find out.

I'd unplug the stock sub, and just run that straight into the amp/converter. If that doesn't work, unplug the sub wires from the amp and run RCAs from an MP3 player or similar to see if you get sound. If you don't get sound from an mp3 player, then something is wrong with your wiring, amp or sub.

I also have an L5 Kicker sub but with a JL Audio amp. My remote is also connected to the passenger side fuse panel. I had the install done and is was easy and straightforward and my OEM sub is not installed so that shouldn't matter.

I did have a problem originally with the first sub I had installed which was an L3. It worked and then would shut off. We thought it was the amp but if I remember correctly, it ended up having to do with the Ohm settings. Make sure your amp and sub are compatible and set properly to match the Ohm settings.
