Trunk bulb question.

I've seen here that the standard bulb is a 6418, but some people say that is 37mm long, and others say that it is 31mm long.
I show that a 6418 is 5W and 36mm long. I've also found that bulb 6438 is a 10w bulb, that is 31mm long. Has anyone actually measured the trunk bulb to see how long it is? I would prefer not to force a "too long" bulb into the socket.

The stock bulb is too dim. LED is an option, if I knew the exact length of the bulb.

hmm...good question - I don't really remember that, but the license plate bulbs does.

Indeed, The trunk bulbs do have a black plastic cover that needs to be somewhat carefully removed to install a new LED bulb.

If a 36mm bulb "fits", is the stock bulb actually 31mm?

Would a 10W halogen bulb be as bright as an LED one?..(4 or 6 LED)..(12 is just crazy)

Maybe you'll be more interested in LED panel? its brighter than LED bulbs.

I was thinking about the (two, four, or six) little LED dots on a festoon body, not the big 12 LED card, wired to a festoon. On the other hand, would a 10W standard festoon be brighter?

Agree. The LED lite bulb was too dim for my taste.
So I went with the LED panel and it is BRIGHT!!!!!
I got mine either from Amazon or eBay which comes with everything you need as a kit which makes installation a beeze.
