Trunk button failure; fix difficulty?

Now that I've got my car back (the dealer spent 7 weeks figuring out that there was a loose fuse box connection causing it to not ready for the emissions check) I'm trying to address a couple of minor things. One of them is that the trunk release button doesn't work. The key fob works; the internal trunk release button works (so it's not the glovebox valet lockout), so I assume that either the button failed or there's a wiring issue in the camera/trunk release assembly.

Has anyone run into this, and if so, is anyone aware of the difficulty of pulling that assembly and fixing the problem? If the button itself is dead I'd rather not buy a whole camera assembly to fix it, which is what I'm assuming would happen if I took it to the dealer...

You don't have to buy a camera. You can get the switch with the rubber cover (that rots) for about $75 at the dealer. My dealer is charging an hour (at $120) to replace it, which seems fair to me as access and removal is a little tricky.

Thanks. The funny thing is that my rubber cover is perfect, it's just that the release doesn't work! It might also be wiring though, rather than the button itself, which is why I was considering taking a look myself.

It's really not the biggest deal in the world, I got used to not using it, but the loaner I had for the last few weeks had a functioning button so now I'm spoiled.

Did you ever get this fixed? I just had the rubber cover replaced and the trunk release switch doesn't work. The fob releases the trunk and the switch by the dash works - it's the physical switch at the trunk that doesn't work. (I was hoping that it might be a bad switch, but that was replaced.)

I think it's probably a loose wire somewhere in the harness. I hope for Christ's sake it's not something that has to be programmed in the GDS. Does anyone know which wires it would be in the harness and the termination points so I can check?

Wolfchase Hyundai offered to diagnose it but I already gave them $200 just to replace the rubber cover and switch, and am not keen on them charging me still yet more for this.
