  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know how to remove the trunk hinges on the this car? I need to replace mine since they got bent and its looking like the back seat is gonna have to come out to take them off. If so where do you start in getting the back seat out or even flipped forward??

I haven't done it on this car. But they look like standard gooseneck hinges with torsion springs? If so you shouldn't have to take the back seats out, but you would have to remove the trim inside the trunk. Also, you typically need a special tool (glorified pry bar) to safely (and easily) remove and reinstall the torsion springs from most trunks. Otherwise, they can literally snap on your hands/arms if trying to do it by hand.

I actually figured out that the damage was all in my trunk and there was no need to replace the hinges. Ive got the back end of my car stripped down to the bones and with the electric lift trunk you have to unhook a couple gas 'helper' shocks and the hinge swings free. It pivots from a plate with three bolts threaded in from the top side and the nuts are welded to the plate if you follow what I'm saying. Basically there is no way to get to the top side without removing the back window or something the way it looks! Seems like they could have designed that a little better but whatever!
