  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Trunk liner handle latch/Cargo mat sinking

I’ve got all the parts and pieces, but my liner is not strong enough to support a heavy load of groceries. It still sags and slides towards the front of the car such that it slides off the narrow “sill” at the back edge of the trunk. Has anyone had this same problem and found a solution?

Same here bro...I think my styrofoam is starting to compress actually. The whole thing just feels like they threw in whatever they had at the last minute.
Has anyone tried a false floor?

I've had the reversible mat in the trunk since I've had the car. This adds a lot of support and I've not had any problems with the underlying spare lid as you describe. Maybe getting this will help with your issue a bit

I have both of these and it still sinks when I put something down.

Ended up installing some extra support this weekend and it seems to be holding up.
The beam sits across the front edge and the plate just sits on top of the tool holder for a little more lift in the middle. Still have full access to the spare and battery and I can actually press down with all my weight without it sinking.

I do need to cut a slot in the middle of the beam for that plastic piece under the trunk liner but other than that everything fits just right.

I am having this same problem. It seems the "structural integrity" of the cargo floor is lacking in "structural integrity." I've never toted anything heavy enough that it should cause that issue - seems to me the strength of that particular part is inadequate for the duty it is meant to serve.

Can you provide additional details on the additional support? I was thinking of screwing a length of 2x4 to the underside of the trunk floor to stiffen it up, but your solution looks more inconspicuous.
