  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just purchased my Genesis a few days ago. I had to drive the V8 as they did not have a V6 with the tech package. Checked the car out from head to toe. Imagine my surprise when I got home and noticed that the rear shelf cover (covers the speakers from the trunk side) was missing. I called the dealer and Hyundai only to find out the on the V6 they do not install this cover. I am still waiting to hear back from Hyundai if they will do it for me at no charge. It is amazing to me that a $20 piece of plastic covering which protects the speakers from being punctured has been left of my V6. The price difference between the V8 and the V6 with premium and tech pkgs. is minimal. This is an area that is covered in the less expensive sedans such as Honda Accord. I hope this was an oversight. If you have a V6, be sure to let Hyundai's Genesis team (call Hyundai and you will be transferred to them) know your dissatisfaction with this.

I don't have my 3.8 with Tech yet but I'm wondering if the new deliveries are coming with the shelf cover as alluded to by cdango in the post from the long thread back in December. Anybody know?

this is next on my list of things to do. Can't believe it isn't on the v6

I just picked up my new white/black 3.8 this past Friday and I too was interested to see if it would come with the cover. It did NOT. I had been officially told by some Hyundai reps that it would and by others that it would not, and by some that they did not know. This is hard to believe but true. The Hundai folks I talked to included both dealer personnel and Hyundai Consumer Affairs reps at their "800" number. Some on this forum have said they were told that cars shipped after a certain date would have it but I could not get anyone at Hyundai to confirm or deny this. At any rate I had already made a deal with the dealer to install the cover if the car did not come with it, so it was already on the car when I picked it up. I believe it is a necessity for both appearance purposes and to protect the rear speaker.

By the way there have also been discussions on this forum about whether the newer Gen's are coming with brown inserts on the dash and doors. Again the same Hyundai sources could not answer this question either. I had to wait for the car to come in. Fortunately for me it was solid black (i.e. with no brown inserts) as this is what I prefered.

Because of the line of work I am in (never ask me about my business) I carry around a lot of dead bodies in my trunk, and not a single one of them has ever complained to me about a lack of a rear shelf cover. So I am not going to worry about it.

Was at the dealer recently and every one has the solid black dash, I still havent seen one with the brown insert:confused:

They don't complain because racoons don't know how to talk.

That's interesting. I guess Hyundai has decided to change, as I had never seen (until I got mine) one without the brown; as they all had them for the first few months.
