  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello i have the 2015 3.8 AWD for some reason my trunk is not opening all the way when you unlock your trunk. It used to open all the way but now i have to use my hands to lift it. How can i fix this issue?
Heres the video

That's all mine has ever done.... I posted on here a few months ago and everyone said that was normal. I though it should open up though

Do you have a smart trunk? Have you checked the lock/unlock button in the clove compartment to see if maybe there may be an obstruction around the switch? All your trunk settings set properly?

If it is a Smart Trunk, the rear of the Genesis will beep three times as you stand within relatively close proximity to the vehicle, then the trunk should open fully. A ‘hands-free’ operation. Seems the Smart Trunk has failed to do this in many instances and prompted legal action.

Regarding Smart Trunks not opening fully:
"...a class action lawsuit filed by a Pennsylvania resident alleges that Hyundai has sold and leased countless vehicles, including the plaintiff’s 2015 Hyundai Sonata, equipped with defective Smart Trunks that never open more than a crack. Instead of automatically opening as advertised, the plaintiff alleges that they simply unlatch, requiring consumers to manually push open the trunk lid, thereby failing to provide the “hands-free” convenience the Smart Trunk is advertised to deliver." The class action asserts that the Smart Trunk comes as a standard feature on the “2015 Sonata (Sport, Limited, and Sport 2.0T);1 2015 Azera (all trims); 2015 Genesis (all trims); 2016 Sonata (Limited, Sport 2.0T, and Limited 2.0T); 2016 Azera (all trims); 2016 Genesis (all trims); 2017 Elantra (Eco and Limited); and the 2017 Sonata
