  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Trunk Wings get mounted today at dealership. I'll post pics when done.

I purchased them off Ebay...just shy of 2 weeks ago.

Dealers get them from eBay or some other non-Hyundai source. They are not supplied by Hyundai Motor America, since they only exist on KDM Genesis models. The eBay sources get them from Hyundai dealers in Korea.

Looking forward to pictures!

Definitely in for Pics

So, what else do you do while waiting in line for gas? Here are the pictures of my car with the tinted windows and also the new wings attached to the trunk. Now, we can officially put to rest the speculation about whether the posts on the wings need to be removed. The answer is yes. The holes for the H emblem on the back are underneath the H itself (not on the ring around the H according to the guy at the dealership who attached the trunk wings). So, the holes are not near as wide as the posts width of the trunk wings.

Now that is a nice looking car... Still a toss up. Do I get black or Montecito Blue :)

Thank you. To be honest, Black was not my best choice but because there was nothing other than Black w/ Black or White w/ Tan around all the local dealerships, I didn't have much choice. My last 3 cars have been black so it's not that I don't like black...it's the overload of the color metallic that's in the black that isn't appealing to me. When the car isn't in the sun, then the car looks fine but get close to it and with the light on it and you see this array of green, purple, reds, blues and because the paint has so much of it, it really takes away from the black color.

Any color is just going to be personal preference. The blue initially appealed to me but I was concerned about it being more of a trendy color (although I think it looks nice and also unique if that's what you're after). I saw on the dealers lot today that charcoal grey color which also has a lot of metallic in it but it's a single color metallic (like a silver) so it compliments rather than detracts from the dark grey color. The charcoal color doesn't show off the chrome or rims as well as black so with everything, there's a trade off.

That being said, if I had the choice between the 2 colors you are trying to decide, my preference would be black.

Nice!
I got my 2011 genesis from Glendora also.
Great dealership.
Even the finance guy was pleasant and didn't try to sell me anything.

The Montecito Blue really isn't Blue (IBIZA Blue is what I think Hyundai calls it). That color blue I don't like.

Montecito Blue looks almost like gun metal bluing. Seen one in the show room but it wasn't a V8. Fell in love with the color. Picture of it on the Hyundai website does not do it justice.

Looks GREAT!

I ordered the emblem for my wife's car from eBay just over 2 weeks ago. Still has not arrived. It was last processed at "ISC New York" on Monday but has no further tracking pings since then... Lost?

Yes, I saw one as well since I purchased my vehicle and agree...it's a really nice blue. However, I picked black because it will be better for resale if I opt for that and if I do hang on to it, black is an staple color for this or any future year whereas off colors run the risk of trending out.

Yep. Black, Silver, white are all safe colors and easiest to resell for most cars.

That being said having owned several black cars they are really tough to maintain. I'm always on the watch for swirl marks to the point that I won't let the dealers give them a "courtesy wash" after servicing. It seemed as if the dealer porters used scotch brite pads to dry them off after running them through the wash. I'd have to spend hours with the Porter Cable polishing out the swirls afterward!

White hides the swirls better but can show dirt/dust.

Silver is the easiest to maintain IMHO.

Everything has it's trade offs in color and preference. In the end, it will be a personal choice to weigh the options of what's important to you. Good luck. Sometimes the color can be the hardest choice!

Although black is a great color when clean, it also can hide the lines on a car. This model does look better in lighter colors as far as seeing the fluidic design. One of the recent reviews also used a lighter color for their photo shoot due to it showing the lines of the car better than the darker colors.

Thought for sure the posts would line up.

The wing looks FABULOUS! (and it's straight too) The tint shade is perfect. I love it!
