  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well, the Gennie gremlins finally got to me. After more than 2 months of carefree driving, they found me. I noticed that the trunklid warning image stayed lit on dashboard. Results are: 1) remote trunk button on door will not work. 2) trunk release on rear will not work 3) thankfully remote key fob will open. 4)locking doors with remote fob will work but WITHOUT usual beep and blinking lights.
Took the car to a nearby Hyundai dealer, but after an hour and half they couldn't fix it, with up to 4 mechanics scratching their heads, with most of the time referring to their manual, I told them to put the car back together and made an appointment with purchasing dealer to have it looked after on Monday. I sure hope they know what the hell to do. And so it begins.......and I still love the car.....

Another new issue I guess. Well... to my knowledge that is.
Is this issue consistent? The trunk light came on and staying lit all the time?

I hope it's an easy fix. Something like a faulty trunk lid sensor or something...
Good luck, and let us know how they fix it.
Thanks,

Dan

Well, this pretty common with the hood when the rubber bumper that activates the alarm sensor gets knocked off, so maybe there is an identical small rubber bumper for the trunk that got knocked off, and that is why you are having issues? The car thinks the trunk is open because the bumper isn't there to push the switch.

Yep, the indicator light stays on all the time, even after locking up the car, that little icon stays on.
I'll be sure to mention the possibility of a rubber bumper alarm setup (?) being knocked off. And I'll definitely ask what the problem was when hopefully fixed and report back.
Thanks for the feedback.

The blood from that dead body you had in the trunk got into the circutry. We're on to you oldtimer-- drugs... young girls... We know your type--

Get a hexomat trunk liner - they can hold a couple of gallons of whatever fluid you have to offer :D

Would you care to elaborate a bit further on the above? What sensor and where might it be? When I speak to the technician on Monday, I'd like to point him in the right direction, assuming probably correctly that he doesn't know his backside from the proverbial hole in the ground.

That problem tends to happen when you're always loading dead bodies into the trunk. ;)

After removing the dead bodies (and one that just wouldn't expire), cleaning up the spilled blood, the problem was found to be an after market LED trunk light that had a loose wire that shorted out the circuit. With that fixed I can now address myself to those little girls (all over 21)

Thanks for the update. Glad you were able to troubleshoot the problem.
I'll keep that in mind in case I encounter such a problem after switching out the LED trunk light.
