  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Genesis G80
As you know the later model G 70s have lane keep that assist but also lane centering as a separate feature.
Do you trust your lane centering on high-speed sharp turns? Ever needed to intervene?
Personally I am afraid to rely on it in such situations

I don’t use that feature at all.

I use it all the time.

I used the lane centering in a Kia rental, heading out of Albuquerque toward Santa Fe, going up and down mountains and high speed curves. It held the road like it was on rails. I kept my hands nearby, but no big issues. It did tend to wander a bit when passing exits, where the white stripes exited, and I didn't.

My G80 only has LKA, which IMO is a joke.

Yes they have improved it quite a bit since 2019

Drove a G70 rental across Alligator Alley and up I-75 last night, mostly in the right lane at 70-75mph. Lane centering function worked well when the lane marking reflectors were aligned. Where there was variance in position of the reflectors, the car would oscillate a bit to keep centered between them and the right side lane painted line. Entirely an FDOT issue, nothing to do with the car.

The one thing I didn't like is how hard it would resist my subtle inputs when passing trucks (I like to give them extra space as well as mitigate the truck's bow wake). And a couple times it seemed to fight me and then suddenly let go, and lurched me onto the left side lane markers. Probably more of a "gotta get to know the car" thing, but it resisted much more than other lane-keep-assist cars I've driven in recent years (including my 21 CRV).

Overall it's one of the better ones I've driven in recent years (2019 Corolla was one of the worst in terms of oscillation).

Around these parts, nice twisties are far and in between. If there are sharp turns to be had, the last thing I'd want is to let the car rob me of the fun of carving it the way I want it carved.

The only time I use that feature is on straight boring roads on long road trips, with next to no other cars around. Really just so I relax my steering input just a little, where the risk level is very low and doing so is relatively safe. It isn't self-driving and should never be regarded as such.
