  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know how to get the headlights to turn on when you unlock the car from the key fob at night? The 2012 and newer models already have this, but not the 2009-2011. Is there anyway to activate/add this feature to the 2009-2011 sedans?

So leaving the headlights on auto doesn't turn them on when you unlock with fob?

No, it does not on my 2011. This is what it says in the owners manual of the 2012 on page 4-78:
Headlight welcome function (if equipped): When the headlight is ON or AUTO position and all doors (and trunk) are closed and locked, if you press the door unlock button on the transmitter (or the smart key), the headlights will come on for about 15 seconds. At this time, if you press the door lock or unlock button, the headlights will turn off immediately.

However, I cannot find this anywhere in the 2011 owners manual. If it was there, I would assume it would be on page 4-75.

I guess our 2011 Genesis cars don't equipped with this function.
On the other hand my headlights stay on for about 15 seconds (when it is dark) when I leave car and lock it. I usually press lock button on key fob second time to turn lights immediately.

Hyundai probably made some changes to internal functions for 2012-2014 models besides exterior facelift.

Yeah, the headlights on my 2011 stay on until the drivers door is opened and closed when you turn off and leave the car. I wonder if there is a way you could reprogram the computer on 2009-2011 cars to enable the headlight welcome function or it requires new wiring or a relay.

Never mind. I asked the dealer and they said it would have to be an aftermarket thing. It would require new wiring and hardware. There were probably changes made to the wiring and hardware in the 2012 models.
