  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Started experiencing this recently. Seems to be triggered by turning the wheel either too far or too fast at low speeds. The headunit display will sometimes go black for a moment, and the car's electronics seem to skip a beat in some weird way. Something seems to trip, not sure how else to describe it.

I can open the door, close it, and turn the car back on, and when I turn it off it goes back to that graceful sequence we're used to.

Has anyone else experience this or know what's going on?

It's probably what it seems to be most of the time, the positive battery clamp and/or the fuses on it.

What in particular? Going bad? Needing adjustment? The wheel turning interferes with them somehow?

The clamp on the battery post gets loose. The fuse holders may get loose too. I think that in at least one case, a fuse cracked internally.

[Turning the steering wheel causes a very large electrical load, if there is any resistance where there shouldn't be any, it will heat up noticeably.]

Any progress on your situation? This has been happening every few days for me for the last few weeks. I occasionally lose all power turning off the ignition. Sometimes power comes back after a few seconds and the analog clock resets. Sometimes it does not and I end up manually locking the doors. I checked positive and negative battery cables and no loose-ness. Also checked in the fuse box under the hood - no issue.

I did recently install a plug-n-play remote start system. It didn't immediately start after that installation (first of Feb) but once I have time to remove it that's my next troubleshooting step.

Few questions:
1. When was the battery replaced last time? May be your car battery is nearing it's end of life
2. Do you have any dashcam that continuously record
3. Or any instrument that consumes power when you power off the car? (parasitic draw video)
4. Do you drive your car very short distance daily that your battery is not charging?

Hope this helps you nail down the root cause.

Keep us posted.

Cheers. :)

I can't find a record of the battery being replaced and I've owned the car for 5 years, and put 70k miles on it. Gonna replace it this week

The new battery appears to have fixed the isue. Thanks @harshal_pwr
