If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I always read that the 2015 and 2016 5.0s didn’t have airbox flappers like the previous generations, well sure enough when i was installing my ram air today i found two flappers! You can only see them if you take the front bumper off.

I ended up taking that contraption out and put some ram air inlets in its place. Should flow much better now.

O man good find. Thats funny I ordered velossa techs for my 5.0 like 2 weeks ago in same black on black set up. How long did it take them to get to you if you dont mind me asking?

I knew that the 5.0 had a set of intake shield boxes under the front bumper, but I did not know that the shields had flapper valves that move based off intake vacuum I believe.

Explains why the 5.0 engine low rpm response seems to have a permanent delay or lag; even with a throttle booster like a Sprint Booster. I will remove my shield boxes when I remove my front headlights to clean them up(polish them) since I have to remove the front bumper to remove them.

18 days man…. If i would of known it was gunna take that long i would of got the cheapest shipping lol.

How long was the install for this? Any notable improvement? Do you have a link to the intakes?
It took me about an hour to do. You need a 12 inch wrench extension to get a couple bolts. To be honest the car doesn’t feel like it gained any power but then again a mod like if it hypothetically gave you 10 more hp you really wouldn’t be able to notice anyway unless you put the car on a dyno.

What i DID notice though, the sound of the intake changed, and it definitely feels like it gets up and goes faster.
It seems like it cut down on the throttle lag a lot and i don’t have to press the petal as far down before it starts to accelerate.

Me personally, if i where you, i would try removing the magnetic flaps on the factory air box before you order this and see if it produces the same results if your looking strictly for performance benefits.

Here is the link nevertheless

Yeah man if i knew there was flappers i would of removed those and seen if it made a difference before I ordered these lol. But believe it or not putting these on actually got rid of a good bit of that throttle lag i noticed. I’m not sure if its from the new intake inlets or the fact that the flaps are gone (probably both).

When you take your bumper off you should remove that intake contraption that i posted a pic of that has the flaps. It seems very restrictive. I’m curious if just removing that would of produced the same results

Its pretty straight forward all u need a ratchet, 8mm 10mm and i think a 12mm, and a 12 inch extension. Take strut bars off, Pop intake tubing off throttle body, take filter boxes out, the bumper has a screw on top of inner wheel well on each side and bunch of those plastic clips. Then once bumper is off just take the old air box inlet things off.
