  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

From BKMania.com - capable of handling 670ps and 700 torque. I believe it's made by Valeo - which is known for making light clutches.

How dual clutch transmissions work.

Hehe.. that's amazing..
They are the pictures I posted on one of the Genesis coupe Korean site and you've forwarded them pretty fast. Nicely done!

They are actually just sample models and production will be starting next spring. 2.0 model is in process of making and should be offered sometime next spring as well.
Twin clutch in these pictures are capable of 670ps and 700 pounds of torque
isn't that amazing?

Assuming the engine can hold power.....

I heard the weak link for the 3.8 V6 is the connecting rod. The piston, however, can easily take 400+hp stock.

Why a twin plate clutch?

I ran a single disk clutch in the Supra with no issues at 753rwhp... I ran the same ACT clutch disk for 22,000miles, from 2005 to 2007...

Unless you are making big power.. a twin plate clutch is a waste of money.

Twin Clutch != Twin Plate Clutch. They mean twin clutch, sequential transmission. Similar to Porsche PDK or BMW M-DCT.

that ish look like a picasso painting just sexy especially in my coupe once i get 1

I'd rock twin plate over a single disk any day. Less pressure plate force, less work on the pedal, less pressure on the crank thrust bearings IMO. Less likely for crank walk.

Uhhh... no... This is NOT a twin clutch design, just a Twin plate clutch.

There is a HUGE diffrence between a twin clutch system and a simple twin plate clutch.

A twin clutch system can not be adapted to a standard transmission, like the one found in the Gensis coupe, the entire tranny has to be designed and built to be a twin clutch transmission. The Genesis coupe's transmission does not have dual input shafts, which are required to run a twin clutch. In addition you can clearly see the singular input shaft design on the clutch disks in the pictures.

This is just a twin plate clutch.. meaning there are two clutch disks, and a floater disk in the same basket, behined a single pressure plate. It works just like a normal clutch, but providing greater friction at equal force, thus providing better holding capasity.

The twin disk clutch I now run in the Supra is rated at 1100 ft/lbs.

You must not have looked at the pics, since they don't even show a tranny.
They do show a twin disc clutch mounted on the flywheel.

As far as needing a twin disc, I think it is WAY too early to know. The 2.0t will have the larger aftermarket.

Nice to know it's out there as an option. But I'm sure when its time, Exedy, Cusco, Tilton will come out with twin disc clutches as well.

On a rwd drivetrain, I think its more for drivability and pedal feel to go with twin disc.
Single will hold power fine, but pedal feel will be drastically different.
My Exedy twin feels just like stock.
