  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Uh oh, here we go... long term testers

Right. The manufacturer can deny whatever they want based on their own assumptions. That's fine, it's part of the risk in customizing things.
Again the Magnason Moss Act is pretty clear the Manufacture has to prove a correlation between the suspension and say a trans or engine failure.

Unless you are willing to hire a lawyer to fight them it seems like they can do pretty much whatever they want in this regard unfortunately.

Think they may already have that covered as indicated with the driveline angle and added stress comments which are plausible issues.

They would be hard pressed to prove lowering a car 1.5” would put any stress on the drivetrain as these cars rear axle housing is fixed to the unibody and only the rear axles are slightly different angles which on a C/V joint is no change in stress hence the name constant velocity.

one other point. If you were to carry 5 adults and several bags in the trunk your vehicle would be lower than the lowering springs alone and not cause any stress as the Car was designed to carry passengers and load.

So to burst there bubble the driveline angle is unchanged.

to sum it up.

“According to the Magnuson-Moss Act, a vehicle manufacturer cannot automatically cancel your warranty just because you’ve installed aftermarket car parts. This is an illegal practice. That said, if your aftermarket part somehow causes or contributes to a failure in your vehicle, the dealer may be able to deny your warranty claim—as long as they can prove the connection. In these cases, the burden of proof is entirely on the dealership.”

Yeah, your fiasco with the stud would have made me drive the car right to Carmax the minute you got it running again.

Funny you mention the warranty... I just lowered my car with Eibach springs and had to take the car in for another seat issue. Guess what? They noticed the springs and voided my warranty for the complete drivetrain and suspension. They said the driveline angles changed which puts more stress on the engine, transmission, rear end, axles, etc. Oh well, I kind of expected that was going to happen.

That's what happens when you offer a 10 yr 100k mile warranty as a marketing ploy. You try whatever you can to get out of it.
The can not preemptively void your drivetrain warranty, that is illegal and the FTC would have a lot to say about that. They would have to wait till something failed and they would have to prove the springs were the cause. Saying it’s more stress is bullshit. Hell the car has launch control which would put more stress on the engine and trans more than even slamming the car on air bags would cause.

The dealer is talking out their ass cause their mouth knows better.

call Genesis and advise them the dealer is trying something illegal and you know your rights according to the Federal Trade Commission.

As far as Hyundai trying to get out of the 100k 10 year warrany I have seen 5 times myself dealing with customers cars the have replaced engines with anywhere for 105k miles all the way to one customer had 122k and they still honored the engine replacement.
i work as an insurance appraiser and when cars are totaled the customer provides documentation that the engines were replaced which added value to the car for the settlement.

This. Exactly

Also I believe the AWD is a different ride height from stock and you can bet whatever N version comes out will be lower.

^^^^^ This. Simple as that, plus, no Genesis dealer can void your warranty. The only one could do that is GMA.

Look almost everyone here has a bad taste about one or more Genesis-branded dealerships. I'm glad they called them out. While the car may be good, bad dealers can still take the brand down - we all know that. You cannot hope to be good you actually have to be....

"The instant Lexus-like response: Replace the transmission, and the transmission control unit. The instant un-Lexus-like service: Oil-stained seats. "

I took my G80 in for a complimentary window tint. It was definitely a Hyundai experience. While I had no negative issues, it was a way different feeling compared to going to Sewell Infiniti in Dallas.

The waiting room felt like an emergency room in an old hospital. Other than that, all went okay. Only had to wait about 15 minutes, and they gave me a G70 for a free loaner for the day. They called me to say the car was ready, and I picked it up inside another 15 minute window. This was Huffines Genesis in Plano Texas.

Just to highlight the different experiences in different markets. (please don't roast me for this comment) lol

My G70 was picked up and a G80 dropped off by the GEM for them to install winter tires on rims. I mentioned an issue with the brakes which they ended up diagnosing as a master cylinder issue. One week in (they kept the G70) they swapped my lower model G80 for a G80 sport (fantastic car), and here we are 3 weeks later and I get a call my G70 is fixed and they'll change out the G80 for my car sometime this week. The fact that I love the G80 makes it even sweeter as I'm not exactly missing my car in the winter weather and have put a few thousand km on the demos in the meantime (with multiple tanks of free gas). Halifax Genesis (Canada) is fantastic and other than just giving me money I don't know how the experience could have been better. Very happy with the only Genesis dealer in Atlantic Canada.

Wait, free gas?

Good thing I saved my paper copies. I noticed that the system doesn't update shit. It seems like you have to manually do it yourself. Hence why my apps say my car is overdue for service (I put in the wrong number lol)

Yeah, I'm not at all impressed by the app, or the system, or the dealer. Weeks after I had the oil service done at the dealer (probably for the last time), I was getting notices that it was overdue for service. Besides being annoying, I worry, from a warranty standpoint, if Genesis thinks I'm not maintaining the vehicle.
Also, I tried checking the service records using the Genesis app for the first time the other day. It has almost no useful information. Luckily I keep my own records, as well as a paper copy from the service department. The app has a long way to go to replace that.

Keep your paper invoices if worried about warranty.

Very happy with the only Genesis dealer in Atlantic Canada.
Thank you for sharing the details of your positive experience. I expect to be able to do the same with Genesis of Plano, TX.
