  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can someone give me some examples of umbrellas that actually fit in the trunk umbrella holder? I just bought one from Amazon and it is too thick. It looks like a slender/thin one is needed. Links would be handy! :)

Thanks,
Paul

It's an emergency roadside assistance triangle holder but I am sure you can get a small umbrella to fit. I got a snow brush to fit.

Amazon has a huge selection of these so-called "assistance Triangles" some are quite ingenious.

I originally thought the holder was for a spare fob.

The roadside triangles are mandatory in other parts of the world, but not in the US, so we don't get them.

I would want an umbrella inside the passenger area, not in the trunk.

Like the maybachs have. I think they have built in umbrella slots in the doors.

Rolls Royce does, and I think they come with the car. But you have to open the door to get to it.

i remember i called the sales woman and asked if i was missing something because of that empty space on the trunk.. .lol

My MG TD came with a tool kit.

And, a hammer to knock the wire wheels off.

I use the pocket in the side of the door to hold a telescoping umbrella. It's very convenient to reach for as I'm getting out of the car.

My 2007 base model VW Passat ($21,000) had that feature, the VW logo umbrella arrived in the mail a few weeks after I leased the car. Fit perfectly, and the umbrella hole was self draining to avoid moldy smell issues.

key fob???

Yeah - it's the little gadget that starts your car: that holder is just the right size and shape.

And I keep a spare in the trunk - wrapped in foil - and placed in a metal box for emergencies.

So how pray tell do you access the trunk in an emergency which I assume is you lost your keys? Do you mind meld with your car? :D

I keep a spare fob in my glove box. I elected to pop out the battery as opposed to aluminum foil which works just the same. Regardless, even with the battery removed it will still start the car IF you push the start button with the fob as opposed to your finger. The battery is only there to give it range FYI. I assume you will use your cell phone to unlock and access in an emergency just like myself?

Actually used it once as I left my car at the office and used the company truck. One of my employees called me and needed to move it. I unlocked it remotely, he found my fob and moved the car. :D

I keep my spare encased in Kryptonite.

i never would have guessed that the clasp on the trunk lid triangle holder would hold the key fob securely!
