If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know if our Gennys are undercoated? IOW, did they come to the dealership undercoated?

If not undercoated, do any of you think a good undercoating would help with sound insulation?

Irate Customer: [sitting with wife and talking to Jerry Lundegarrd]
We sat right here in this room and went over this [during previous visit to dealer].

Jerry Lundegaard: Yah, but that TruCoat...

Irate Customer: I said I didn't want any TruCoat!

Jerry Lundegaard: Yah, but I'm saying, that TruCoat, you don't get it, you get oxidation problems...

Irate Customer: You're sitting there talking in circles like we didn't go over this already!

Jerry Lundegaard: Yeah, but this TruCoat...

Irate Customer: We had a deal for $. Darned if you didn't tell me you'd get me this car without the sealant for $.

Jerry Lundegaard: All right, I'm not saying I didn't.

Irate Customer: You called me and said you had "it."
"Ready to make delivery" you says.
And here you are and you're wasting my time and my wife's time.
And I'm [only] paying $ for this vehicle here!

Jerry Lundegaard: All right. I'll talk to my boss.
[Jerry stands up, about to leave the room]
See, they install that TruCoat at the factory. There's nothing we can do.
But I'll talk to my boss.

Irate Customer: [talking to his wife]
These guys here. These guys. It's always the same. It's always more.

[Jerry Lundegaard leaves the room and goes into a another office, pretending to talk to his manager]

Jerry Lundegaard: [talking to another salesman who is watching a football game on TV]
You going to the Gophers game on Sunday?

Other Salesman: Oh, you betcha.

Jerry Lundegaard: You wouldn't have an extra ticket?

Other Salesman: You kiddin'?

Jerry Lundegaard: [Jerry returns to room with customer and his wife, with big smile on his face]:
Well. He's never done this before [referring to nonexistent manager], but seein' as it's special circumstances an' all...
He says I can knock $100 off that TruCoat.

Irate Customer: One hundred?
You lied to me, Mr Lundegaard.
You're a bald-faced liar.

Irate Customer’s wife: Bucky, please!

Irate Customer: A... f__king liar.

Irate Customer’s wife: Bucky, please!

Irate Customer: Where's my goddamn checkbook?
Let's get this over with, Where is it?

^ Bravo good sir!!! That post took time, dedication, an imagination, and a working understanding of tongue in cheek! Well done, well done.

Actually, I will have to give credit to Joel and Ethan Coen. That is dialogue straight out the movie Fargo in 1996. They won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (among many other awards that movie earned). A "must see" movie.

I was not referencing those 200$+ undercoatings that are done at the port or the dealership.......... just curious of a good undercoating job would help with insulation from road noise...... (cough cough)

Maybe I'll watch the movie since I missed it......... well, actually, never heard of it.

Oh ya shor that Fargo movie der is a classic!

All i was picturing when i read the first post was, You gotta have the Truecoat

on a side note, if you go to Fargo, you can get your photo taken with the wood chipper at the tourist information center.

Its the actual wood chipper from the movie!

Hope they cleaned the blood off it! Just sayin'...

Today i removed a small part of carpet in my genny to see whats under it (curious to know) i saw a factory deadener material so i closed the carped and didnt do sound deadening, the car is already sound deadened so what more to do? I dont think even if i add deadeners i can make already quiet car quitter! But i may try to add the deadener underneath may be it can help!

Additionally I'm thinking about what would happen if I were to drill a small hole in the fender well and sprayed some of that foam insulation stuff into the opening? Don't know if much of anything is in those fender wells but seems like some sound deadening material in there would be beneficial.

Thoughts??

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Well, I was 6 in 1996. Didn't exactly see that movie. And now I must lol.

Looks like you could very well be the youngest owner/driver for this type of car. You should have bought yourself a coupe, more fun driving it than this.
Many of us owners here are either old farts or mid-life crisis middle aged men. :)

Exactly! Im planning to add the deadener material in fender well, actually i want to remove that fender well (seems easy) and the add deadeners

In principle it may help deadening.
As a general rule, BTW, where you find opportunities to do more vibration elimination and sealing you will profit.

But it is easy to say and hard to do.
Working in these few unprotected areas may prove difficult. And - not looking - it seems there are not many places left to be deadened. The factory work is pretty good.

In addition, I would not drill hole in sheet metal that are covered by a generous warranty. (you may lose it)

I have found a cheap method of sound deafening. I turn off my hearing aid. haha.... Who say old people only are buying the Genesis?

I might be taking that, as I was 4 in 1996 ;) The next youngest person I've seen driving one of these cars in person had to be early 30's.

May I ask you this.
May be it's just me but why drives a large car where there seems more fun driving a smaller sized vehicle?
Unless you have large family to haul over the weekend. :)

As for sound proofing the car, I placed the WeatherTech floor mats over the existing ones with the exception of the driver side where it may interfere with the accelerator pedal.

I can't afford to drive fast, so I may as well be in comfort as I drive slow. I just really enjoy large luxurious cars and the Genesis fits that great. Definitely excessive for what I need as it is usually just me or me and the girlfriend in the car.
