  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I got tired of the hard center armrest.

So, I bought some upholstery fabric at a local store, and found an auto upholstery shop to install the fabric (I bought 1/2 yard) and about 1 inch of new foam.

Total cost $40: ($5 fabric & $35 install) Love the soft results.

Removing the armrest is easy:

1) remove the cover plate on the hinges

2) remove three Phillips head screws

3) pop off the plastic under tray

Good idea, but why that fabric?

My family crest is "tweed".

Our black interiors are not really black. They are more an ebony or charcoal. Regular black fabrics didn't quite match. I wanted to use black Alcantara, but its $100+ per yard, and not really a good color match.

The fabric I used is actually a great color match to the interior. It appears much darker without the camera's flash.

It'd be nice if you could just add a little more padding to the existing armrest and KEEP the leather cover. How much "extra" is there on the leather? From the pics, I can see maybe a 1/4 inch of leftover leather?

Can you please report pictures of center armrest removal. Some items of a passenger dropped in between the crevasse .
