  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Upgrades!!!

Agreed. The wings on the hood take away from the clean look of the front end of the car.

Well, I guess my front end don't look clean.
I've washed it and washed it and waxed it and waxed it. lol Just kidding you.
I love the wings on hood and trunk.
I like to see the reaction of people as they walk past me when I am stopped.
You would be surprised how many have no idea what a Genesis is.

+1 :) I love it too - I'd say MOST don't know what is.

What to do, what to do...

I think a hood without wings makes people wonder what the car is, in a subtle non-showy way. But somehow the car doesn't stand out and look unique. These days with all the large Caddy, Merc logos it almost looks like it's missing something.

Then again, a hood with wings makes people wonder what the car is in an attract-attention sorta way. First day I brought my 2009 home (with wings already on the hood) my neighbor asked "Is that an Aston?" That conversation would not have happened without the wings. :D

Hyundai took a tip from a lot of their customers who rebadged their cars, and made their choice with the 2015.

I am thinking that Hyundai is gaining some degree of respect and recognition from the masses by building and selling the Genesis & Equus. Most people still don't know what my white 5.0 is, but the car enthusiasts do know it and they all have good things to say. I suspect this trend to continue.

I drove my Genesis to work on Friday, for the first time, and one of the "car guys" there thought that the trunk badge was a $150 option. He was impressed.

I was sitting in the car waiting for my wife at a store and I saw a woman slowly walking up from behind looking at the back of my car. As she came up to my open window she paused and said "So, what's a Genesis?". I said "It's made by Hyundai". She says "Niiiice carrrr!" as she slowly walks away looking back over her shoulder. I love it! :)

I remember someone saying that some dealers were quoting $900 to rebadge front and rear when rebadging first started in '09 or '10.

Today with airbag DIY cost is about $400.
  • airbag $220 + $65 freight!
  • wheels $60
  • hood $15
  • rear $15
  • license plate frame, valve stem caps, etc. not included :D
Add in dealer markup and labor and you're probably still close to $600-700.

No, at that time I think it was just the f & r badges. I could be wrong tho - it was a long time ago in Genny years. :)

Thanks for posting. I'm 2 hrs away from picking up a 2012 3.8 premium with 37,000kms, same colour. Looks and drives like a new car. Your pics have me salivating. Mine already has the wings front and back and I like it that way, the wings on front are the perfect finishing touch to a gorgeous car. Tint was done by previous owner, so all that left for me is to enjoy it.

Congrats on yours.

p.s. will be leaving behind a 2011 Sonata Hybrid with 70K, been a great car, but I just need some grunt under the hood again.

Looks good man, I don't think I've ever seen that color in person before.
