Neither the Mrs or I liked the H-Trac

May I Ask what you did not like about the H-trac?

I ask because I haven’t driven one yet I’m buying one site unseen.
I’ve driven the 3.8 RWD. However I wanted to get the four-wheel-drive just to cover my bases on my next move. I’m military so I never know what’s next

First, thank you for your service, which I for one, am grateful for everything you do.

IMHO, buying a vehicle sight unseen, is the equivalent of buying a home without seeing it first and having to pay for repairs or later on, live with a place that may have shortcomings.

It is your call, but if was me I would get a good bumper to bumper warranty, as the Genesis can be an expensive vehicle to repair after the warranty expires.

Here is a quick over view, after driving two RWD and two AWD back to back;

- The AWD is slightly slower.
- The AWD drive train is noisier
- AWD felt somewhat less agile, (not as playful as the RWD)
- Gas mileage, (almost same as 5.0.)
+ the AWD is more planted, sort of drove like it is on rails.

It really depends what you after, if heavy snow is what you are worried about, then AWD would do it. If you enjoy driving, highway/ low miles, there is the allure of that rare 5.0 breed, and almost everything else can be solved a good set of tires.

There are no use vehicles on Island, So I had to look to the mainland US for cars. Shipping is $1300 to get out here. But that’s just what we have to face out here. I’m not fond of sight unseen but I’m crossing my fingers that the CPO car that I’m looking at was evaluated well. I did plan on buying 5/60 warranty as well as room tire protection because our roads are a kin to a Third World country.

I wish I had the opportunity to try those two back to back. I probably would be fine with the rear wheel drive, but the cost of an AWD is negligible as the CPO warranty covers that component for quite a long time in the warranty. So that’s what made it appealing.

As for the noise, was it substantially and or annoyingly noisy?

Since you have both models, would you forgo the Apple CarPlay in order to get a car with the heads up display? My logical brain said that will be this is the smarter pick, so that’s why am looking at an ultimate.

Indeed I did not want to make any assumptions, having been twice, it is a beautiful place

My suggestion is to check the warranty in detail, most warranties start from the first day of registration, so if you buy something registered in say June 2015, you really have one year left. Also since you currently live in that heavenly place, please make sure you have a dealer / auto shop that would accept that warranty.

The noise from the engine I would say is around 10% worse for the same level of acceleration, the engine just strains that bit more to get going, if that makes sense?

If I would sum it a bit better, the RWD just feels a tad sportier and as recall the gas is a bit higher, so 10-15% worse gas mileage, in slower driving might make a difference in your situation.

Finally being a car enthusiast, the ‘feeling’ of not having enough power bothers me, more often than not.

As far as hud vs car play, I just made a road trip from Atlanta to Orlando and love the HUD to no end, with slow & fast idiots abound, having all relevant data in my line of sight, is simply invaluable!
Now for day to day driving I simply can’t survive without having Waze up on main display to keep my sanity in check with my daily fight with the Atlanta traffic.

Another thing you might like to consider, If you are into music, the ultimate sound is 5-10% better, with the highs a bit more crisp and the mids are slightly wider, the lows are about the same depending on the source.

My choice would still be the Ultimate. I have Android Auto and have tried it but have no reason to keep using it. The HUD I'd not want to be without though.
