  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Found this in USA Today's auto section. Somebody plz post a link to it. Appearing in this story was probably not a compliment, despite the text.

"Hyundai Genesis

Hyundai introduced a true luxury sedan in 2009 that we awarded with our top honor, and it has only improved since then. At close to 20,000 sales in 2011, it's doing well but not as well as most comparably sized luxury cars, which are priced higher (by anywhere from $3,500 to well into five figures above the Genesis' $34,200 base price). With V-6 and V-8 engines and rear-wheel drive, it has the foundation and all the luxury trappings of Mercedes and similar competitors. If you refuse to accept a Hyundai as a luxury car, you're only hurting yourself."

I'm actually not upset ro see this list, when everyone else is going mainstream and driving a Camry and Accord I pull up in a Genny, and you pull up in an Optima...and that means we strayed away from the pack and took a chance (which I did on the Genesis). And like Ruissimo, several of the cars on this list i happen to like, even though im not a fan of Ford, I always did have a thing for the Flex.

I suppose calling them under-loved cars is better than calling them sales flops. Still, you have to wonder how the average reader will interpret this story's headline. Everything said about the Genesis is good. Being a luxury car leader at a much better price can't be a bad takeaway. Still, there is the doubt cast upon the Hyundai name for competing in the lux market.

How say you?

I think it's a positive article for the Genesis.

I also think Hyundai still has an uphill battle in their effort to obtain name recognition in the luxury car market.

I've received several positive comments about the appearance of the car and questions about the model and manufacturer. Only 1 person expressed any envy when I told him it was a Hyundai Genesis. He knew exactly what I had and praised my brilliance for buying such a car.

To a person, everyone else glazed over a bit and lost interest in further conversation about the car. "Hyundai" just doesn't seem to get folks juices flowing.

I'm just not impressing folks when I tell them it's a Hyundai. Almost like they conclude my Rolex watch is a knockoff.

I love the car. I've had it for 5 months now and still get pumped everytime I get in it.

I think this a positive article about the Genesis. When USA Today calls it "under-loved" I take that to mean "overlooked." This article will encourage more people to consider the Genesis, which is far and away the best luxury car value.

I completely agree that this is a positive article for the Genny. Personally, though, as much as I like it when people admire my car, I don't much care if they're impressed that it's a Hyundai. I am, though, and that's all that matters to me.
