  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Man!! when I was doing research to buy this car, it can be very confusing. Most videos are based in US. After some research here is what I found. Why is this so different?

In US 3.8 Technology Package
you don't get Heads Up Display
No Power trunk lid
No CO2 sensor control system
No Genuine matte-finish wood trim and aluminum trim

In Canada Technology Package:
Includes 3.8 Luxury features plus:
No rear auto sun shade (why? do they think it snows here 24/7)
Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go capability
Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
Head-Up Display (HUD)
Proximity-activated hands-free power trunk lid (”Smart Trunk”)
CO2 sensor control system
7.0” TFT LCD instrument cluster display
Power trunk lid

In Canada Ultimate Package:
Includes 3.8 Technology features plus:
420 horsepower 5.0L GDI V8 engine (only in V8, no V6)
Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension
19” staggered-width aluminum alloy wheels
9.2” touch-screen navigation system with 720p high-definition display
Driver Information System (DIS) multimedia controller
Headlight washers
Card-type proximity key

I believe that all Canadian models of Genesis are AWD, which accounts for some differences. Also, in USA, there is no V8 AWD. The other differences are just marketing decisions.

These decisions are made by Hyundai Motor America, or Hyundai Canada, who are the official importers and marketing arms of Hyundai for each country. There are also some differences in the warranties that each offers (another local marketing and/or legal decision).

The KDM (Korean Domestic Market) trim levels are different again from the ones for either of the North American versions.

I am not a marketing expert nor in the car business, but my guess is that marketing drives the decisions as to what is included and how things are packaged. Also the value of the US dollar compares to the Korean and Canadian currencies.

All of the above likely factor into what features are packaged with what model, etc.
