  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As the title says, the USB port and neither of the cigarette outlets (or whatever they're called) no longer work. I assumed it was a fuse issue, but I can't find a blown fuse. Maybe I'm just not looking at the right fuse, so I'm here for help. There are two fuses in the passenger side fuse box labeled as AC outlets. Are these the right ones?
If it's not the fuse, what else could it be?
Thanks

I had that issue. It was a fuse. I don't know which one as I let the dealer do the work. No cost to me. :D

If you don't want to take it to the dealer for warranty service, then check your Owner's Manual for possible fuse locations.

I had a Genesis rental with a blown fuse for the lighter plugs. It was in a fuse box on the front, drivers side corner of the car. It is not well labeled, and it was not easy to find.

I've read through the manual and there is not a clear description of the fuse that covers it. I guess I'll pull them out one at a time - shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

I think it is fuse "P/OUTLET FRT" on page 7-57 (of my manual). It is a 25A fuse located in the fuse box behind the driver's side headlight.

Thanks - I didn't even think to look in the fuse boxes under to hood as I thought that was more engine related stuff.

Looking at my manual, I don't have one labeled as you mentioned, but there is one called ACC Socket and it's 25A. Must be it. Now, just need to figure out how to get to the fuse box. Everything looks pretty boxed up under the hood.

It is an easy access plastic snap-off cover. It is pictured in the manual in the section about fuses.

Thanks for all the help. Easy to remove the fuse box and replace the fuse.
The two cigarette outlets are operational but the USB dock still doesn't work. No power at all. Will pull other fuses to see if that's the issue.
To be honest, the USB stopped working a short time before I noticed the outlets not working, so it appears to be two separate issues. I rarely use the outlets, so I was hoping that I just didn't notice them not working until later. Doesn't appear to be the case.

I seem to recall that the bumper to bumper warranty for electronics only goes until 36k (or was it 30k) miles. Either way, I'm past that, but hope they'll fix it under the normal B2B warranty.

My hunch is the USB port is powered by the radio directly, but you never know... it might have its own in-line fuse between it and the radio or a fuse at the radio. That one might take a bit more research to sort out.

Out of curiosity, exactly what is the USB port doing or not doing? What devices have you tested it with, and how did you test it?

The USB port was always problematic. When it was working, it would often reset itself or the radio would just switch to another input altogether. Then it eventually stopped working at all. Nothing happens when I put in a flash drive, and I've tried several. I've also tried plugging my android phone in directly with a USB cable to see if the phone would get a charge or if the radio would recognize it. Nothing happens.

Tech package? If so... the USB data port and AUX jack in the center console feed a small box called the "Media Unit" in the Hyundai manuals. It's located in the dash roughly behind the glove compartment; this box is what processes files on USB/iPod devices and converts them to audio for the head unit. The AUX jack wires (left & right audio and a video signal) go directly to the head unit though.

So a flaky media unit or flaky cables between it and the USB jack or between it and the head unit will lead to an inoperative USB/iPod module.

Thanks for the insight. Don't have the tech package, but some this info might still apply. Bottom line is that it sounds like I'll need to bring it to the dealer.

Reviving this old thread just to give updated info. The fuse blew again, and this thread reminded me where the fuse was located.

But I also wanted to confirm that the fuse for the power outlets is in no way related to the USB port not working. I had to bring that in to the dealer, and if I recall correctly, it was $150 to fix.

To amyone uaving this issue i found the solution its not a fuse not multiple fuses its the shoty asembly work done by hyindai. The conecters come loose and cause lots of problems my radio was acting up and i jad this same issue all it took was poping the trip pice arrou dthe radio and repluging the large whit conecter it powers scroll wheel the outlets and the usb hub now everything works great and the radio does not uave no volume or read isues in adition i also took apart the whole radio asembley and centre consle and checked all the other conetions it works perfectly now makes less creaking sounds when driving.

My 2010 4.6l w/ Tech Package also had two non-working cigarette power outlets and I found there are two fuses that control these power outlets. One 10 amp fuse in the Passenger side panel fuse box (covered by passenger door) labeled P/OUTLET (FR) and a second one in the Driver side engine compartment fuse box just back from the headlight. This one is a 25 amp fuse also labeled P/OUTLET (FR) and it was blown. Replaced with the spare 25 amp fuse from the engine compartment Passenger side fuse box up near the fire wall where there are 4 or 5 spare fuses for this purpose and both power outlets work!

Replaced Front Power Outlet (Cigarette) Fuse labeled FNT Power OUTLET, the one to replace is located in engine driver side - 25W fuse, there is also one labeled the same (FNT Power OUTLET) on passenger side inside car dashboard fuse box which is a 15W fuse, that is not the one that powers the FNT Power OUTLET. 2012 Hyundai Genesis has 4 different locations for fuse boxes. 2 inside cabin and 2 in the engine compartment. Good Luck, very confusing
