  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am having trouble with my USB drive on the 2012 3.8L Genny. It will play few mp3s and will display the "Loading USB" message again and will start playing from the first file. If I traverse to some directories and it will sometimes play for few mins and will restart from the beginning.

I tried 4 flash drives so far (2 of them brand new) and everything is formatted to FAT32. Not sure what could be the problem... Anyone have the same issue?

Make sure that all the files are correct MP3 files. I have over 3000 songs divided into folders on a 16 gig with no problems.

The drive, with the same mp3s, plays fine on the 2009 Sonata. I guess a trip to the dealer is next

Mine is unreliable, at best. At first I thought it was the drive, so I bought a new one. Still have issues.
Takes a long time to load (1-2 minutes) and then at random times it will just stop working and a CD will start playing.
Bummed about this as my XM trial is done and I was planning on canceling it and just listen to all my mp3's

I use a 16 gig scandisk Cruzer "Fit" micro usb drive and never had a glitch. Did not format it, I just put the mp3 files on it and everything loads/plays perfectly.

I use 2 Kingston 8GB drives and I'll only have a problem once a month or so where I just have to take it out and put it back in

I have a 16GB HP drive that works perfectly. I tried a SanDisk drive but the system wouldn't recognize it. It seems like some brands work better than others.

I get the same problem. I have a Kingston 32G and a Patriot 32G both are formatted fat32 yada yada....

rarely the Kingston has a hitch. However the Patriot won't play for very long without erroring.....

If I put uncompressed *.wav files on the USB drive instead of mp3 for better sound quality, will it play? I copied some wav files from my CD on the USB and it does not play.
Does wav files on a USB play for anyone?

I use 320k copy rate for mp3 and it works great. Never tried any other type of file.

MP3 format or WMA (Windows Media Audio) are the formats the Tech package (at least the 2009 version) recognizes. WMA is a later format compared to WAV; see if your audio capture/ripping software can write WMA instead.

Okay, finally figured out how to make it work. Formatted the flash drive (32 GB) to FAT32 (full format) and copied about 25 GB of songs and plays fine now. Whew! Saved one trip to the dealer and not sure whether they will be able to figure this out though ;)

On Windows 7, you can only format exFAT or NTFS. From the command prompt, you can format it to FAT32 (flash drive is on drive F):

format /fs:FAT32 F:
