  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Genesis GV60
I’ve been scouting out the crazy good deals on used EVs, and the GV60 has climbed to the top of my target list.

* Would the ICCU issue stop you from buying a used GV60?
* 12v battery issues?
* Dealer experience?
* Consider only CPO?
* Anything else?

No. I never had an issue with mine pre or post recall fix

The experience I’ve had with two NJ dealers was very bad.
CPO gives peace of mind.

I've had mine for over 3 years. My ICCU went bad after 3 years. The 12v battery issue is always in the back of my mind. Some on the forum members have had good and bad dealer experience. Mine is a Hyundai dealership and not a dedicated Genesis dealership. My experience has been good, however it's kind of far from my home. I would only buy a used vehicle as a CPO. Remember as a 2nd owner you don't get the exact same warranty as the original owner. I would check to see what type of warranty you would get as a CPO vs a non CPO. If I were looking to buy an EV for the first time, I would be concerned with the ICCU issue, that's just my opinion.

Nah, been an EV driver for 11 yrs, and ICE free for 8 years. Never going back. :-)

Currently we’re a 1 car house, but I need a 2nd for infrequent work commuting. I like the hatchback (cyclist), the look, and the ride quality. Wish it had more range, but not the end of the world. Range anxiety is a myth.

Thanks for your reply. HNY!

What type of EVs have you owned/do you own?

What type of EVs have you owned/do you own?

2015 eGolf (new)
2014 Tesla S 60 (used, replaced eGolf)
2017 Tesla 3 (new, replaced MDX)
2016 Tesla S 90d (used, replaced S 60)
2023 Rivian R1S (new, replaced S 90d)

Still have the R1S. I got my kid a used 2021 MachE for college graduation last year. And the other kid leased a 2024 EV6 for his graduation. So I’ve got some experience with those 2 as well, tho not anywhere near time in the others.

So then maybe the most important thing for you to realize is that unlike your Teslas and your Rivian, the GV60 isn’t a SDV. This means that its interfaces are more like legacy ICEVs than SDVs like Tesla and Rivian. It also means that OTA updates are far less frequent and contain much less content/changes, and that they can be a real pain in the a** to complete.

OTOH, the GV60 is really nice inside, and quiet.

OTOOH, it won’t recall your preferred driving mode, and the transition between acceleration and braking is somewhat clumsy, and it will only regen brake to a stop in I-Pedal mode or via use of the paddles.

OTOOOH, its DCFC performance is amazingly good.

I’d take one for an extended test-drive if you haven’t already. Very nice car with some quirks, IMHO.

For my desires (small size, performance, luxury) this is still the only sub $100K vehicle out there. So...yes...even though I got bit by the ICCU I would definitely do it again.

This is IMO a great summary given OP's previous EV cars... hats off to @Zcd1
