  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

First, my apologies if a similar thread already exists on the forum - I searched fairly extensively and found nothing on it.

My question is whether any of you have had a need to use a luggage carrier? I have a great Samsonite 'soft' roof mounted carrier, but I'm hesitant to use it on my Genny since it doesn't have any roof rails or rack of any kind. I'm not happy about the carrier being in contact with the bare roof.

Any words of wisdom from the membership would be much appreciated. Taking the family to the Outer Banks this summer and it'll be the first trip with the Genny...

I don't know - I cringe at the thought of putting something on top of the car - I'm afraid that no matter what sort of suction cups or other mounting method is used it would end up marring the paint. I think if I absolutely had to carry a lot of extra stuff I'd either rent a minivan or SUV, or possibly even rent a trailer, but I don't think I'd mount anything on the roof.
FWIW

I put a trailer hitch and lighting connector on so I could pull my boat, motorcycle and trash trailers. The car does a great job. I don't think I would want to risk marring the paint with a roof top carrier. They can also be quite noisy.

There ya go! .:)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Why not send the roof carrier ahead of the drive so that it arrives the same day or a day earlier? All your stuff will be there, and your paint will remain intact.
