  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My V6 tech seemed to have a nice "growl" to the motor sound if I "stepped on it" somewhat. Now it seems to "growl" with very little pressure on the gas pedal. Does anyone know how they make the "sound", or what might be happening with mine to make it "sooner and louder"
(but I still love the car:))

Thanks

What is the model year of the car?

Heh,heh,heh,
Yah I have a absolutely stock 2016 V6 ultimate and I too have noticed it definitely does has a Snarl when I get on her!!😘
Particularly in the sport mode. Zoom zoom!!😜

Nearly anyone close to my sons' age loves the sound, nearly everybody closer to my age find it a bit "boy racer". But the Hyundai sixes sound quite a bit like the Porsche six in the Cayman, so that's good. :)

my motor seems a bit louder when it's cold outside. otherwise i can't say that in 17k miles it's gotten any louder overall.

Hey there Mississauga,
A note from Midland, ON.....I rather like the growling induction noises, despite being 72 years young. Last week, I changed the spark plugs on my 3.8 V-6 engine at over 100,000 miles. The plenum assembly had to be removed to get at things. (Hyundai calls it the tank) Attached to the forward most part of this induction system is a small plastic canister that the workshop manual calls a "Resonator". I assume that Hyundai engineers have put this into the system to excite the "Boy Racer" in us. I'm definitely stimulated by the noise when getting into the "Loud Pedal"!
cheers,
Ted

The resonator is actually there to do the opposite of what you mentioned.

It takes the echo/noise coming from either the intake or the exhaust and allows an empty chamber for it to go into. This causes the sound to be lessened before it either enters the engine or exits from the exhaust.

It's not there to make more noise, unfortunately.

Just for GIGGLES, I may remove the resonator temporarily, and plug the induction side to see what happens??
Right now there's to much White Funny stuff on the roads for throttling up.....
Thanks for the info,
Ted

Tbone do u notice much of a difference with the CAI?

Does the CAI violate the warranty? Thinking the V8 would benefit from one!

No an intake will not change your warranty. Had 2 engines replaced on my past Hyundai with an intake on and it wasn't even mentioned.

It will not automatically void the warranty, as it depends on what the warranty claim is specifically related to.

Some people had their engines replaced that had an after-market CAI, but those engine problems were well-known by Hyundai and have occurred in a fair number of other instances so that they know it was not related to the CAI. If you to a dealer and say your engine is running rough, and has after-market CAI, it is hard to know what the dealer will say about your warranty status on that one particular issue.

Difference as in what? If you're talking about performance, then no. I bought one strictly for the increased intake sound, and because I like to modify my cars.

I like the sound the V6 makes when accelerating and I like the fact that you are hearing an actual engine sounds rather than some faked piped-in-through-the-speakers nonsense. And when cruising, it's nice and quiet like it should be - no tiresome constant droning.

One of the things I didn't like about my test drive of the V8 was that you could barely hear the engine, ever. I don't doubt that some find that a positive.

hey folks, been a while. I also have the AEM CAI installed and the V6 growls nicely north of 2000 RPM. In stock form i also remember a pleasant and subtle growl 3 - 4K RPM, but def more pronounced with the AEM CAI. I don't have it dyno'ed for prove of increased of HP or Torque like the manufacture claimed, but for sure the throttle response is better!
