  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Can you put 18" V6 wheels on the V8 sedan Genesis?

I just purchased a new set off of eBay and the seller said they came off of the V8 model, but when I look at them closely, they don't look like the ones on my car (which is a V8)

I bought them for a winter set of wheels so I don't really care if they look different, I just want to make sure they work.

The 18" V6 and V8 wheels are both 18x7.5" with 39mm offset so there should be no problem. The problem is with the 17" V6 wheels which will not fit over the larger brake calipers of the V8.

Thanks for the info 52!

I was sweatin' bullets thinking I bought the wrong rims. I called the people who I bought it from and they also said they would look into it for me as well, and if the rims didn't work my money would be refunded.

I actually don't know which rims I like better. Do any of the V8 come with the V6 18" rims?

Not stock, but people have swapped them. I like the V6 rims - in motion they look great. The V8 are nice as well but more sporting looking vs luxury without the chrome inserts.

I just talked to the guy who I bought my rims from and he still is having a hard time finding the answer to my question. He's called Hyundai and a local dealer and both haven't given him a definitive answer.

Does anyone know 100% for sure that they will fit? The guy said he is going to bring one rim to a dealer or find someone with a V8 Genesis and put it on to see. I guess right now thats the only way to really know if it will work.

I would guess the wheels all have the same lug pattern and offset, or similar offset, so as long as they clear the brakes there should be no issues, like 52 stated.

Just make sure you use the correct lug nuts!

I don't know if I should laugh or cry. What the hell happened? Forgot to put the nuts on?

The wrong lug nuts were installed - they backed off the car as soon as it started moving!

A very expensive Oh SH!T moment!

SCCA slightly modified RX7 with look-cool lettering- check
Shaved racing radial tires- check
Extra-light magnesium or forged aluminum rims- check
Lug nuts- just use these- check
Proud day of racing with my newly made pals- FAIL

-splaining to wife why your man project is backing up the driveway on a flatbed while you hold a bag of 20 silver lug nuts- priceless!
