Valve Clearances - 3.8

My manual says to check valve clearances on the 3.8 every 2 years or 48Km.
I know what this means, but does anyone know if it's really necessary on the 3.8 and how "big a deal" is it (how complex and how expensive). Don't want to spend unnecessarily

Take it to dealer. And yes get it checked. The v8 does not need this service which is one of the reasons I chose the v8.

In my 2009 Owners Manual it says "Inspect for excessive tappet noise and/or engine vibration and adjust if necessary." So if you don't have excessive noise or vibration, I think you are OK.

The interval for checking this on my 2009 is listed as 60K miles (96 Km) or 48 months, whichever comes first.
