  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Vibration under breaking

Agree, I have the 2019 G70 3.3T AWD and my rotors have been turned at 2,400 miles. It started earlier than that, but wanted to make sure it didn't correct itself first. After the repair, the car has less vibration at harder braking, and almost no vibration at soft braking. It did not completely fix the problem. Car and Driver talks about the brakes on the Stinger and the G70 in their Lightning Lap 2019 article. The article says that the brakes on the G70 lasted longer, thus improving the lap time. I love everything else about the car, but was hoping to have that it would already have quality brakes. It will be interesting to see if the 2020 has different brakes.

If there is still any vibration tell your dealer and request new rotors. A number of us have been through this. Apparently their procedure is to try turning them first, but they will replace them if that doesn't fix it. It's ridiculous to have shakey brakes on a new $50k sport sedan.

Although if you've read through this whole thread, you probably know that the pads suck (unless you have the Dynamic or 2.0 MT versions), and you'll probably need the Euro or aftermarket pads to prevent a reoccurrence. Hopefully Genesis will start putting proper pads on these cars. It would seem to be in their own interest, because all these brake issues under warranty must be costing them $$.

Interesting.... My take on warranty service is you would think that as a dealership owner you would want as much warranty service as possible as you are paid for the work. As a franchise you don't pay directly, Genesis Canada, etc.does. Assuming you can justify and prove it is warranty and there is no negative from corporate or lost vehicle sales directly, why screw around and piss off the customer? (genuinely curious here if someone has an answer).

Also in Canada. I had my rotors machined under warranty, still have vibration I believe is pad related. Lots on this topic here.
I had warped rotors at 2900 miles dealer resurfaced all rotors and replaced break pads it is as good as new now. Genesis has great warranty they take care of it at no cost to you.

Reviving and old thread I see. Since my old post I've had front rotors machined twice, pads replaced, rotors replaced, rear rotors machined, new pads and new rotors. Before most of that have had master cylinder replaced, brakes bled 3 times, vacuum pump replaced twice and who knows what else when they were trying to solve the soft brake issue. Issue is completely gone now and don't like talking about it, but definitely some early manufacturing/material composition issues with the brakes on this car. Any more issues or when my current pads/rotors need replacement (whichever comes first) I can't wait for aftermarket rotors and pads.

Service is good, but my time is worth money so there was a huge cost to me on this even though I didn't spend any money really.

Rant over.

The problem is the pads. When they turn the rotors and put the same type of pads back on, it's only a temporary fix (unless you drive like an old lady). One or two hard decelerations and the problem will return. I had no luck getting the dealer to pay for the better HP pads that finally solved the problem. Besides, as @Truck Norris noted, your time is worth something. Although I wasn't happy to have to shell out $400 for pads, at 13k miles now I've never had the problem return and have been able to stay clear of the dealer.
