In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. when I turn the A/C on I get a horrible pulsing vibration in the steering wheel and to a lesser degree the seats.

when I turn the A/C off it goes away.

from what I have been able to determine, it correlates with the electric fan that turns on when the A/C is on.

when I look under the hood and the A/C is running. I can tell the vibration is coming mostly from the electric fan area. turn it off and everything smoothes out again.

this is mostly an fyi, but if you have had a similar issue, please post. I'm going to be taking it into the dealer in a couple of weeks to have it looked at.

With the car off - spin the fan by hand and eyeball the blades to see if one seems out of whack.

yeah...I figured one of the blades has something on it, or maybe a chunk missing. this would throw the balance off. could be the bearing, but I don't hear any bearing noise yet.

can't really get my hands in that small space. plus....it has a warranty....here you go dealer...fix it.

could be the a/c compressor pulley too I suppose. I know it didn't do it when we first got it. now it has 5900 miles on it and it just started about a week ago.

Having the same issue. I always noticed a little bit of vibration on the steering wheel with the ac on but in the last few days it has gotten so worse that now my seat also shakes and the items on the console make noises due to the extreme vibration. Once I get up to speed (4th gear and beyond) the vibration goes away but when I slow down vibration comes back again.

update. A/C was on yesterday and it was cool outside. fan never turned on and the vibration never happened. looks like the dealer gets to put on a new fan. ;0)

Genpire, so is your steering wheel completely vibration free when the ac is not on? My wheel has a slight vibration all the time. I just figured they couldn't isolate it completely. However when I got in my wifes 15 sonata this morning the wheel had absolutely no vibration at idle.

I don't really feel any vibration at all with the a/c off. if there is any with the a/c off then I don't feel it or its not enough to be annoying.

its only when the a/c fan turns on that it goes nuts.

I am also having this ac vibration. Not terrible but annoying at idle. Anybody get a dealer to fix yet?

i'll be taking mine into the dealer in a week.

car was fixed. the old fan lost one of the balancing weights on the front fan. they are small and just pressure slide onto the fan blade. new fan is working perfectly well. no more vibration.

Wife just reported that the vibration with A/C on is back again. I'll report what the dealer does this time. this will be visit number 2 for same problem. the first time took them 2 weeks almost to fix it. took them that long to get the part and I was afraid to drive it if the fan blade was cracked or whatever and would break loose and damage more of the car, so we had a loaner.

well I checked it out and I think its a false alarm. I believe her, but I could not get it to display the same symptoms. there was no vibration for me. so idk. will keep an eye on it.

Would you have a point of contact to the service manager at your dealership that determined that the fan was causing the issue? My dealership has duplicated the problem and elevated the issue trying to find the cause. Thanks

I know it's been a while since you've posted regarding this vibration issue. I purchased a 2015 Genesis 3.8 Sedan (CPO vehicle) on 7/28/18. When I test drove it I noticed the vibration right away once we (the salesman and I) stopped at a traffic light. He said that it is an A/C issue and service can take care of it since it has a full warranty. My mistake was taking delivery!!!!!! I dropped the cat back at the dealer on Wednesday 8/1 (3 days later) and their "Genesis Master" as I was told said that all the cars do that. I said that the loaner car 2018 G80 does not have the issue. After the car being there 3 days they told me that they found nothing wrong with th A/C but the fuel filter was changed and that fixed the problem. I no sooner pulled out and I felt it again. I was pressed for time and went home. The next day I called them and they told me to drop it off the following week which was Friday 8/3. I went get the car today and was proudly told that it was fixed! they cleaned out the carbon fill up in the air filtration system and around the exhaust manifold. I pulled out of the dealership, drove a half a block away, and at the traffic light the vibration was worse than when I dropped it off the first time. I brought it right back and the service manager had me sit in the car with the technician who worked on the car. He told me that this is a characteristic of some of these cars and there is nothing they can do and I should consider talking to the sales department about another vehicle if I can't live with this. I told him and the manager to replace the entire A/C unit or whatever it will take to fix the problem. I thought of raising the RPM but that leads to more fuel consumption and overall is not so good for the vehicle. PLUS... why should I have to put a band aid on it. So now I'm back home and found your post and posts from others with the same issue. Please tell me how you made out and what can you reccomend me to do next.
Thanks!
Tom

Thank you for sharing your testimony. I am also in the same boat as everyone on here. I think my issue has progressively gotten worse to the point where at highway speeds, whenever the A/C is on, the vehicle has a very noticeable vibration. The faster you go, the more vibration enters the cabin. I am almost tired of this car already.

which fan was that?
please describe it, because I have the same issue with vibration on idle with a/c on.

The engine cooling fan (radiator fan).
