If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. how many are interested in getting a cat back exhaust here? it won't be a axle back but a full cat back, and would be slightly larger, but well muffled sound.

dual tip, 6061 piping, price to be about $850. if there is interest, i would begin prototype, talks with my factories, and request a tester car. tester would get first exhaust at cost. only requirement is that i would need the car for a few days to do the prototype and again for the test fit. needs to be in Los Angeles area

where are you located?
are you looking at a V6 & V8, or just a V8?

i'm actually going to need by the 3.6 and the 4.8. does anyone have a picture of the underside of the sedan? how different is the 3.6 and 4.8? if it's just a rotated flange, that's easy. if it's a different setup, i can just change the midpipe section.

I'm definitely interested in a cat-back system. I'm a bit far for a tester car though...

What would the tips look like? The factory ones aren't bad, and I love some of the quad looks I've seen, but a quad exhaust looks silly on a V6.

not necessarily, quad exhaust looks more luxurious. i don't see the difference between a v6 getting a quad or a v8 getting a quad. in the luxury sedan world, it's about the looks, not the performance, though a little performance isn't bad either

I don't know... IMO, if you're going to change the exhaust, it's because you would want to see a performance increase, not just for cosmetics. But that's just me....

I agree w/BigElm. I like the look, but unless I garnered a performance increase with it I would NOT be inclined to do it.
Better phrased, I guess I would say that I would do it for the performance increase, but only if it looked really good as well. (No sense uglying up the car!)

1) well, as i'm a more performance oriented company, yes, it will obviously have performance gains. i'm talking about dual tips per side. that is simply a cosmetic issue. tone and gains are inherent in a better designed cat back exhaust. thus

that is exactly the point of this exhaust. will provide perfromance increases while allowing it to look as good/better (nice polished look with good sound - not race car like)

2) anything that is after the cat (hence the name cat back) does not influence warranty. look up the magnuson morrison act

While I am sure there will be a market for your product I personally would not be interested in it. I bought my car for the luxury. It is very quiet from the factory and I intend to keep it that way.

If you could make this thing sound like a Borla system...I would purchase in a heart beat! Im a borla fanatic! Soft, smooth, deep tones. NOT RACY, or THROATY.

Im not a fan of the QUAD tips but a good oval, similar to what is factory would be beautiful!

Most of you know Im a Toyota guy as well, and if any of you have heard the TRD Exhaust (made by Borla) on the Tundra's, Sequoia's, Tacomas and Camrys you will understand the tone's that Im talking about.

I'm with those who would only do this for performance and sound reasons. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason for quad exhausts is for each to take 2 cyls of a v8. That's why a quad exhaust on a V6 is a non-starter for me.

Oh, also, I might get the KAI body kit, so the tip or tips should fit in the factory tip profile.

Most after market "quad" exhausts are actually single muffler with two exhaust tips. They don't really run all the way back to the exhaust manifolds.

I should have been more clear - I thought the original performance reason for Quad exhaust is only applicable to V8s - muffler-back "quad" exhausts copy the look, but don't provide performance benefit.

To me that's like a non-functional hood scoop or fake chrome brake vents or staggered tires on a FWD car - they look pointless and "wannabe".

Am I wrong?

1) a non functional hood scoop creates unnecessary drag. that's pointless
2) fake chrome brake vents don't vent. that's pointless
3) staggered tires on a fwd don't assist in any performance. Yet if the body shape requires/allows for it, why not. not pointless, but purely for aesthetics reasoning
4) v8 only quad exhaust with 4 pipes running from header to tip - nice, expensive, and heavy. it's the look you go for, but you don't actually need a v8 to pull off the look. sure, piping may need to be different for optimal sound. many corvette exhausts use dual pipes back and split to a quad tip. in the end, it's just a difference in the tip - not detrimental at all to performance, nor does it imply that you have something more.

doesn't seem like there's really any interest...i'll move on then

well, I hate to see that. $850 (to me) is a little much to spend on something that may give me 5-20 hp. I could do a good nitrous setup.

I would probably purchase an axle-back system that is under $500. Super easy install and not loud due to factory installed converters and bafflers. I have never relied on an exhaust system for hp gains but simply for a good sound. I have had my share of supercharged cars, trucks and suv's and if your just doing an exhaust mod you will not gain to much or you may actually lose hp or torque. IMO in order to gain significant amounts it will need to be custom starting at the headers and then going back. But there again is the $$$'s.

Basically, I will save my pennies and buy the supercharger! :) ....if it ever comes out!

ESPTUNING: Thank you for what you do and I apologize that little interest was taken into the exhuast. I think you handled things correctly by bringing it to us and let us show or not show interest. BUT...if you can build a prototype, install it and dyno the car before and after installation and it show some significant amount of gains...I may be more inclined to buy! :)
