  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

OK, don't take the piss, but I cannot get the voice command to understand my english accent and keeps cancelling me out. Anyone else experienced this problem? I've lived here 40 years so it can't be that bad.It will accept numbers but not words.

My 07 Lexus GS350 is so bad, I have not used the Voice commands for over 3 years now! - I gave up.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I only use VR when initiating an outgoing call with a paired Bluetooth phone.
Works 99% of the time.
But when I press the VR button too quickly after starting the car, it does seem to misunderstand my command a lot.

As another Genesis owning 'Limey' I have had no problem with the voice command except when I forget to wait for the "beep" before speaking. Must be your Geordie/Cockney/West Country accent :D:D

I've had a great deal of success with the VR system - no probs, I just have to remember to wait for the "beep"

Oddly, it seems the more I use the VAC, the more it understands me, surely the system isn't that good? Or am I refining my American accent.
And no, I'm not a geordie or cockney, but from the South Coast. Won't say where, but we are in the cup final again!

I know that some voice recognition systems do have a 'learning' function, so maybe there is a chance you can teach it English after all.;)

I am a new genesis owner and new to this forum. I love the car - period! I recently leased a 2010 4.6 with all options. I added 18 inch chrome wheels as well as the wing badges all around including the steering wheel and the hood just over the grill. Finished it off with a nice tint all around. Color - sapphire Blue w/cashmere interior. Here's my problem:

The owners manual refers to the "setup menu" for voice commands in section 4:145 - 160. My system does not recognize those commands period. The system posts a list of recognizable commands and none of them are in the setup tre posted in the manual. I am having to manually load my phone book or use the store number command and manually add the names. Adding multiple phones like mobile. home, and work require multiple manual inputs not the stated method in the manual. I have contacted Hyundai about it but have heard nothing yet. Is there someone who can help me. Thanks so much.

God love the Geordies. In my younger days, I "lived" with a Geordie family while attached to an American Embassy on a Middle Eastern Island. Dated the daughter for two years. The father was a Sergeant Cook in the RAF. The British were the only other English speaking people around.

My girlfriend's father once told me that "The Scotts call us English with our brains kicked out, and the English call us Scotts with our brains kicked out, and nobody wants us". <grin>. When he would put the accent on, we Americans and even the English, could not understand him, although the Scotts could understand him a little easier.

Those British RAF and Army guys could drink!!!!!

BTW, the only difference between the way the English and the Scotts drink is that the English grab their pint (20oz) stand up and sing and drink, but the Scotts get up on the table while they sing and drink. (Did I say those guys could drink?)

This knowledge is one advantage of spending all those years in the Navy. :welcome:

Don't feel bad... it doesn't understand my Bronx accent half the time.

I find if I'm driving with the windows down, or the sunroof fully open, the VR never works correctly.

My wife has the same problem. She needs to use her 'merican accent when talking to the car.
