  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently bought a used 2009 4.6 and I can't get the voice commands to work. I push the button and nothing happens. Any suggestions before I call the dealer? The voice commands did work once when I pushed the button in error.

Thanks.

Read your manuals very very carefully and study. It is possible you turned it off. When pushing the command button push it once and wait for tone then say command, it should then be repeated by the car unless that function is turned off.

Push the voice button once, wait for the beep and then say "Voice guidance on".

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
We also just purchased a 2009 Genesis 4.6 Sedan. Sometimes the voice command reponds immediately and everything works fine. The next time is says "One Moment Please", then gives the beep (Shows the sysmbol); you give it the command, it changes the station but no sound and locks up the entire head unit. We cannot seek, scan, change mode or anything. The car must be turned off and start again. If we do not use voice command everything is fine.

Is there a way to reset to factory settings?

Thanks

Allan

I did take the car to the dealer who called me and said everything worked fine. Then, when I picked up the car, the voice command didn't work for several tries, but finally did work. I have gotten the the voice commands to work since.

The tech said if the problems continued, he would replace the control module which is the button on the steering wheel. My own observation is Hyundai buttons seem to be finicky. Push the button the "right" way and all works well, just a bit and no go. I have this issue with the start button for the engine.

I do not have the freeze up issues you mention, at least on an ongoing basis.

FYI my Genesis buttons work better than the ones on my Mercedes.

Bumping this from the dead. My voice commands now no longer work. I hit the button and it says "one moment please" then the beep then the system freezes up. Cant use my DIS at all. Dealer appointment, I assume?

Try pulling the fuse for about 5 minutes and see if the system reboots and all functions working.

I don't think my voice command works, either. I press the button and say "I'd like a BJ, please", and nothing happens.....

Come to think of it, my ex-wife responded the same way.... ;)

You're pushing the wrong button.

I guess I could never find that "button". :D

First time this happened on mine. Pushed the voice command, it said wait one moment, it dinged, gave the command to call my wife and it worked, but then it froze up the interface and buttons during the call. A minute later the buttons around the DIS worked, but the knob and steering wheels were still locked up. I had to stop to get gas 2 minutes later anyway and when I turned the car back on all was fine again:rolleyes:
