  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Voice Dialing from Phonebook

I'm sure you're not wrong. The vehicle is supposed to repeat the actual name in addition to mobile, work, or home.

When you enter an address using voice on the NAV, it should repeat the street name city name, etc. My head unit stopped doing that and I'm guessing yours stopped also.

Yours is the first I have heard that stopped working without a head unit change.

I've had my 2012 for a month now. If I remember correctly, at the beginning I could say, "Call John Smith" and that would be repeated and then executed. Now, if I say "Call John Smith" the system does not recognize it. Instead, I have to say, "Call Name" and then wait for the system to ask for the name. I then say, "John Smith" and wait for the system to ask for home, work, etc. Then I say, "Home".

Is there a way to short cut the voice commands so that I could say, "Call John Smith Home" or something similar to get the call placed in one command instead of three?

PaulSW - I have the same car as you have. Unfortunately you cannot combine what you want into one command. The shortest sequence is 3 commands:

1) say "call name" - car will then prompt for the name
2) say "name" then "home" or "office" or "cellphone"
3) car will repeat "name" and "phone type', then ask for confirmation. Say "yes".

Too bad the car will not let you combine commands 1 &2 which would save one step.

PaulSW and GPeaselee:

Your signatures don't indicate whether you have the tech package or not. I have the tech package. You should be able to press the voice command and say "Call John Smith-mobile" in just one command. You don't even have to open the phonebook. Just push voice activation button on the steering wheel
and give one complete command.

I'm certain of that if you have the tech package because my unit worked that way until I changed the head unit.

I have the tech package also and I must say the Genny is by far the best system I have ever used by leaps and bounds. (Toyota and Nissan are terrible) I hate it when any system keeps asking for confirmation and the Genny is as simple a it gets. I press the voice command button and say "Call Office" or "Call John Cell" and everything just works. Only time it ever stumbles is when others are talking in the car an I attempt a voice command.

I have the premium package with touchscreen. I guess the tech package works differently.

I only have premium package not tech package too.

Also if I remember correctly the seat and steering options are gone.
