If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well, I saw it for the 1st time at 10:15pm last night. It said sold this morning. It probably was sold before I saw it and website wasn't updated.

Hello Gents and Ladies,

Considering a Genesis again. I considered it last time in 2013 but decided I always wanted a diesel engine and Genesis was a little out of price range.

I will miss the 38mpg in the city of the TDI but VW wants to pay me $700 more than I paid for it and I have driven it 3 years and 30k miles. I digress.

Does anyone happen to have or had both of these cars? Curious about a comparison.

I will probably look for a used 2015 without any packages because I am not sure I want the sunroof. Seems to be rattling for many here and the one on my VW has rattled since I bought it and VW dealer can't find the rattle. Sunroofs just seem to have issues across many brands.

My current car does not have any of the items in the signature package so I don't guess I will miss any of it. I really wanted blind spot monitoring, though. Also, you don't get the simple guidelines on backup camera without the signature package? That seems odd to me?

I'm in the same boat as you. Shopped the Passat and 2013 Genesis four years ago around this time of year and the fuel economy of the TDI made me go that direction (coming from a 500+ HP V10 in my M6 that averaged around 12mpg, I needed a change). It's been a great car (I got the fully loaded SEL version with all of the toys) and I've enjoyed 40 mpg through most fill up's despite having a heavy foot and driving aggressively.

Now with VW offering to buy my 63K mile 4yr old Passat back for only 7,000 less than I paid for it, I've been shopping around again. My turn in date isn't until November 1st (earliest available, and that was tentative anyway), so I have time... however, I just signed a purchase order for a '15 Ultimate 5.0 that I'm picking up on Tuesday. I was considering a new 2016 AWD Ultimate 3.6, but after test driving a 5.0 I liked the extra horsepower, larger wheels, etc. I knew I wouldn't be happy in a V6.

After deciding that I wanted the V8 for sure, then it was down to paying full MSRP for a '17 rolling into the dealerships in the next few months, or search for a low mileage 2015, which I eventually found with less than 500 miles on it. With no major changes from what I can see, I'll take the $17K in savings and get the 2yr old car. I average around 16-17K miles per year anyway, so I'll probably hit the 60K mileage mark for the warranty, right when 6yr mark is hitting too.

I don't get it....He doesn't know what he wants.........Subaru - VW Passat- Genesis
ALL completely different cars

I absolutely agree in the notion of exploring all types of vehicles. How does one know what s/he wants if they limit their choices? To that end, I would absolutely look at cars ranging from the Genesis to the Outback and everything in between.

Having just returned s 2012 TDI Sportwagen to VW and owning a 2016 Genesis 3.8 AWD signature, I can tell you two things that you'll miss with your diesel: gas mileage and front seat comfort. If your very careful, you might get 27 mpg, but I have never felt that the Hyundai's bottom seat cushions for the drive and passenger were very comfortable. The Genesis seats lack the bolstering of the VW and seem just flat and hard. Moreover, the Genesis lacks the low-end torque that your diesel had. In fact, I replaced my VW with a BMW X3 diesel and much prefer in every way to the Genesis. I suspect the I am experiencing buyer remorse with the Genesis purchase.
