  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Walnut blasted my intake valves

Thanks. I do not know if the grade of fuel correlates to the amount of carbon build-up, but it helps me compare later on when I inspect my engine. I was going to wait until 100k miles, but I may just clean my valves at about 80k miles when I change my spark plugs since it easier to turn an engine when the plugs are removed.

I run Premium in my 5.0 to take advantage of the extra octane & detergents... But on a DI engine it probably doesn't make that much difference for carbon build up since fuel doesn't wash over the intake valves as it does in a port injected engine. Clean oil is more important in this instance.

I agree with you skipgen, and I was also thinking low speed/ city driving would speed up the carbon Deposits? An idling engine does not burn efficiently.

S-o-o-o-o, are you saying that in 1970 when I told my father I was not speeding, I was "blowing the carbon out" that I was actually telling him the truth?

Pretty Much... "Italian Tune Up"!
