  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is the difference between the Hyundai Platinum Plan and the one by Zurich? I bought my Genesis on Friday and decided to add the extended warranty to take it to 10 years, 100 miles, zero deductible. The warranty is provided by Zurich, and not Hyundai. The dealership said that the Zurich plan is the only one they offer now.

I paid 1,210 for it.

Thoughts?

The Hyundai Plan "may" be underwritten by Zurich, but not sure. What does your paperwork say?

People should know that they do not have to purchase the extended warranty at time of vehicle purchase, and they can purchase from any Hyundai dealer, even on the phone.

To me, the key would be a better plan on some electronics, and Continental driving and avoidance electronics... A debate the Hyundai 100k warranty does not cover any of this beyond the 3/36.. Check yours. If it does cover all without exclusions, might be a better deal.

The dealer's do not want to sell the hyundai protection plan. They make so much more money off the other plans. If you really push the issue they will give you a price on the HPP. You can buy the HPP online if you google it. You could tell the dealer that you are only interested in the HPP and you will buy it online and they will probably quote you a price. I'm sure you have a time frame to cancel your other plan

DRS thanks for the reply. do you know which program is better? Also, why do the dealers want to not sell the HPP plan? I would assume they get some kind of kickback from Hyundai for selling the Hyundai plan.

I may be able to offer an opinion once you are able to see the language on yours.. Specific to the components for adaptive cruise, lane departure and lane keep assist. What is excluded in your plan? Do they mentioned the components that make up these features? What version of Genesis did you get? Ultimate? What options packages? That will help to offer an opinion, by seeing what items, if any on the packages are excluded..

You could also take pictures of your documentation, specifically where any sections that say "what is not covered". And post those pages here.

Dealers make money no matter what plan they sell, unless they are pricing it below their cost. When someone buys the HPP plan, there is dealer cost, and the price they charge the customer, and difference is profit, just like buying anything from the parts department like floor mats, etc.

I've just finished working my way through the very lengthy extended warranty thread on the 2010-2014 Genesis discussion page. There was a great deal of very interesting information about different experiences folks have had with extended warranty purchases. I posted the following on that discussion page and am copying is here in an attempt to get feedback from 2015 owners.

Anyone with any recent experiences/purchases willing to share with the rest of us?
I bought my 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate new from a dealer in the DFW area and am just now (at 6200 miles) seriously beginning to explore the purchase of an HPP extended warranty.
I've just emailed 5 of the dealers listed throughout the thread asking for quotes for a 10 year/100K miles/0 deductible warranty. I'll be happy to report back on what I learn.
I noticed that the last few posts in this thread speak to significantly higher prices for warranties. My assumption is that this is due to the anticipated repair costs associated with the 2015 models. Don't know for certain, I'm making what I think may be an educated guess.

I purchased the Hyundai Platinum Warranty when I purchased the car and I paid $1778 for it. 10/100,000
