  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

so i removed m mufflers on my 2013 hyundaii genesis sedan, for some reason my car has been slipping and jerking around 25-35mph. just wondering if my warranty would be voided since i removed my mufflers

I think it would depend on a few factors.

1. The dealership and if they are willing to void the warranty easily on cars (give them and ask if doing x would void the warranty for x) They can't do anything unless you bring the car in, and plus, they probably won't even know its you.

2. If the cause of the issue results because of the mufflers being removed, then yes it would void the warranty and not be covered.

3. If the cause of the issue has nothing to do with the mufflers being removed, and your dealer (see note 1) is not a stickler (always assume they will be unless you call ahead and ask or get it in writing - good luck) then your warranty won't be void.

4. Your dealership could find that there is no issue with the car due to the muffler, but still say you voided the warranty just because they don't want to cover any repairs of the car and don't expect you to review the warranty agreement.

All in all I say go ahead and contact the dealership and ask a what if scenario, but don't give your name. Get the answer you need and if you wind up voiding the warranty or feel uneasy that it may be void, then just put the mufflers back on and bring it in as if nothing happened. I HIGHLY doubt that they will see if you did anything to the muffler, and if they do, then deny it and blame it on a rock or shady neighbors.
