  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I live in Chicago burbs. Does anybody know what a dealer pays Hyundai for the extended warranty bumper to bumper? Like to have a idea before going in thanks

I don't know about the dealer cost, however, a reasonable cost would be somewhere in the $800-$1200 region. I have read people paid $1700 for the coverage, which I think is excessive.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I don't think a bumper to bumper extended warranty exists on the genesis. If you read the actual coverage language, you'll see that many important items are excluded.

While an extended warranty may be beneficial, be sure you're not buying it thinking it is something it is not.

There are some Hyundai dealers that sell them online or via the phone. I would try and get a price quote from one of them. There are also a lot of other threads on the subject, but be aware that you need to know exactly which Hyundai extended warranty is being discussed, as there are several different ones even with the same duration (but different coverage).

I recently helped a friend buy a Tuscon and learned that my dealer only offers the Platinum plan. It retails for (I think) $2700 and their cost was $1700.
She wanted it and they gave it to her for the $1700.
Same for Genesis, haven't a clue.

If I have issues and they don't honor the "bumper to bumper" extended warranty I'll be unhappy.

I didn't read the fine print but I was told for $20 a month I could extend the 60,000 miles bumper to bumper warranty to 100,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.

$20 on each payment works out to $720. Hopefully I'll never have to find out.

Oh, 2011 Genesis Coupe

I did a lot of research before deciding on an extended warranty company, the HPP Platinum at my dealer is $2200 with a $50 deductible per incident. I also looked at a few other companies and wound up settling on one through Warranty Direct.

It cost $1700 with no deductible, 10/100k bumper to bumper including all electronics and some additional things that the Hyundai warranty didn't cover. No warranty is truly bumper to bumper, each has exclusions but the one from Warranty Direct was more comprehensive overall. The electronics in our car can easily cost more in a single repair then the entire warranty, depending on what part goes bad. I talked with the service adviser at my dealer and they have accepted the warranty there and had no issues with getting payment from the warranty company.

I got the HPP (official Hyundai) 10 year 100k/ $100 deductible Platinum warranty for $1,399 2 months ago on a new 2012 car. I did not negotiate that price, so I guess you could easily get that price at most places. $0 deductible raises the price A LOT. I'd be happy to share a copy of the sales slip if people want a negotiating tool, but I do think anyone could get that price with no trouble.

Bear in mind that the deductible applies on a per visit basis. So, if your wipers break and your windows stop working, you'll save money by reporting both problems in one visit.
