  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was at my dealer today for a scheduled service, the last complimentary service. An employee corrected my assumption how my 5 year bumper-bumper service is for five years. It is for five model years, he says. That is, for my 2019 it includes service 2019-2023, those five calendar years. Thus for my vehicle which I purchased July 2019 I have 18 months not 24 months of that full warranty remaining. I did not make a discussion about this with him. It is clear that the 3 year free service is date of sale forward three years and the three year free online access is three years from date of sale but the bunper-bumper warranty is for the five model years from Jan. 1 2019-31 Dec 2023, according to him and for my car. Has anyone encountered this thinking (and counting)?
It was so strange a concept that I could not counter his comment with rational thought.

He has no clue. Amazing how stupid people can be. According to his plan, if you bought your car one day before the next model you you'd lose an entire year of warranty.

The warranty is 5 years from the date of purchase and or 50,000 (or whatever miles), which ever comes first.

Just log in to your Genesis Owner's home page. The Purchase or In-service date should be shown on the Dashboard. It is for my '21. If you show that to your service advisor, I don't see how he could argue otherwise.

That said, your purchase date and the "in Service" date should be the same but not always, even though you might have been the first owner and bought the car as "new". It is always best to to check what Genesis' website has on record.
