  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Genesis G80
Last week I purchased a G80 coming off a 36 month lease. There was very little maintenance background on the Carfax despite the evidence of an oil change sticker on the upper left portion of the windshield. I am aware I lose the 10/100,000 powertrain warranty as the second owner, but I want to make sure I get the 5yr/60,000 factory warranty transferred to me. The vehicle is not a CPO, and it has 28,000 miles on it.

What is the best way to ensure a dealership transfers the warranty to me successfully? Thank you!

Just call the dealerships service department and give them your vin number. I called to check for recalls and asked them. They told me I had 35 months left on my basic warranty.

There is nothing you have to do to get the warranty transferred to you. It has a 5/60 warranty, whether you are 2nd owner, or 50th owner. If/when you take it into the dealer for service or warranty work, they will update Genesis with your information as the current owner.
