  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Fellow members,
I was wondering if the factory warranty is void automatically if I don't get the car serviced at a dealer at the intervals specified in the manual. I typically get my oil changes done every 5k-6k miles (sometimes that can be 14-15 months apart) depending on my driving. I know that when I take to dealer, do I tell the dealer E.g., do the servicing at 22,500 miles? That includes everythign written in the manual such as brake inspectin, tire inspection, filter inspection blah blah... or just do the oil change ?? Then dealer gives me a certificate of servicing that makes me not go out of warranty??

As long as you are performing service intervals (Severe vs Normal), you are within warranty. Make sure to keep all receipts from other mechanics performing service. If you're doing your own service, keep the receipts from the oil purchase and oil filters.

a warranty cannot be voided by not following the service intervals. Warranty coverage on a part can be denied if it is determined that there is negligence on the part of the owner.

for example negligence would be going 22,000 miles without an oil change and having the engine seize.

Always keep your receipts for the services and be sure they reflect the date and mileage the service was done, then if there is every any question on a warrantied item, you can prove you had the service done.

BTW I believe the service interval for the 3.8L is every 7,500 miles for normal driving.
