  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So i just removed my mufflers on my car amd just did straight pipes. Now for some reason when i drive, my transmission seems to be slipping sometimes when i get to 35-40mph range. i'm wondering if my warranty is avoided if i take it in to check and possibly replace my transmission.

I am making an assumption that by going to straight pipes you are lowering the back pressure in your exhaust system and thereby altering the factory settings of the emissions control system (and possibly other systems that depend upon one another).

Hyundai, like every other manufacturer I know of, will insist that your vehicle is in stock, factory-delivered, form before they acknowledge any problem with performance - and IMHO this is entirely fair. It is unrealistic to expect a major manufacturer to act as a custom speed shop in troubleshooting a problem which may have been introduced by after market modifications.

Also, it has been my experience that someone who alters their exhaust system to produce more noise tends to drive the car with more gusto. If you have done that you might find you created a transmission problem with more sporting driving. These cars are sedans but are not intended to be driven as would a genuine sports car.

So, my answer to your question is to return the car to its original condition and then, if the problem doesn't go away, take it in.
