Washer Fluid Low - Alert Message

let me preface this with i can't find a LEAK anywhere!!! but, my car goes through windshield washer fluid like a kid eating candy! i'll fill the tank up...and squirt the windows like 3 times and the low fluid light will come on! i realize that when the headlights are on, they also get hosed down, but the amount of fluid used is seemingly ridiculous! anyone else notice similar? again, i can't find a leak anywhere, and don't see any fluid on the garage floor!

How much fluid are you getting in when the light comes on? You should get a gallon in easy. That being said I do not think I go through a tank a year.

a gallon or more! i've never had a car go through so much fluid so quickly; it's weird!

mine goes through it faster than any other car but you have to remember the car has sprayers on the headlight that activate once a drive

i'm well aware of the headlight washers, but i thought those only ran if the headlights are on?? "shrug"

Yes, only activated once the lights are on and then only once. If I remember correctly, they will activate again after another 15 mins. In other words, you can wash the windshield as often as you like and the headlight washer will not activate unless the 15 minute time frame is up and the lights are on.

I didn't get confirmation from the others, but looks like it may only be on the AWD with headlight wipers.

it may just by MY car (awd). i'll have it checked next time it's in for service. it just simply goes through the fluid waay too fast; and i think the tank holds 2 gallons.

I have no issues and have AWD.

I didn't say all of the AWD's have a problem, but considering how often washer fluid is used automatically on an AWD Genesis, it is probably related.

So I was responding to Alwaysforward that on a RWD like the one he has (I believe), there should only be washer fluid usage when the driver specifically uses it via the stalk.

I had the same problem a year ago. I can't recall if I commented in this forum or not about it, but when I took it in to dealer a hose was loose. I think it was the hose from the washer fluid container to the headlight washer. I would be filling it up almost every day and after a couple of sprays, it was all gone!! Anyway, the tech found the loose hose and put a clamp on it and no more issues since then!

1. The Engine Start/Stop button is in the ON position.
2. The light switch is in the headlamp position."

That is correct however after a second shot of windshield washer fluid it does not activate the headlamp washers. I can't remember if it was a timer or if it is after X amount of times it is activated before they operate again.

I purchased my 3.8 in October 2015, have 3800 miles and haven't refilled it yet.

55 inches of snow so far but I do wash it regularly so that certainly helps.

Right. Headlamp washer comes with AWD models only.
