  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm not trying to promote dangerous activities, but my wife likes to watch videos on a long trip. Anyone know how to bypass the safety feature that turns off a usb video when the car is in motion?

There are certain companies that make bypass modules however the Genesis is such a rare beast I do not believe anyone has tackled this yet. There was an option for the Gen1 but it worked poorly and cost around $300 plus installation. Best bet is to get a portable dvd player or a cheap laptop and watch to your hearts content.

Hi and thanks.
I was wondering if there was a setting on the engineering pages.
Some people here seem to know a lot about hidden settings.

It is possible, fairly quick install supposedly and it is a fairly cheap module, I just can't remember who it is, but it was def on youtube. The part was maybe 100 or less though, so cheap in terms of the total price of the car.

Being a motorcyclist - distracted driving is a major pet peeve of mine, and the genesis already has plenty that can distract drivers for too long, despite it's best efforts to do otherwise.

The best recommendation is to get her a tablet and to make sure she keeps it in her lap or attached to her visor so it is not remotely in your field of view. Sorry - but that's the honest truth. I recommend the Nexus, actually.

Set her up in the back seat with headphones. She will be happy with her video and you will enjoy a peaceful and much safer drive. You can enjoy togetherness when you arrive in one piece at your destination.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
If you buy anything from Acer - you're on your own. :)

I would love to know as well. I remember some guy posting that he knew how to do it in another thread maybe 5 or 6 months ago. Maybe the likes or dislikes thread I think. I remember replying to him and asking him to let me know, even via private message if he wanted to but I never heard anything back.

How about geting a universal tablet mount, like this one:

You can then use the clove compartment or the sun visor as a fully functional mount, with her favorite tablet and stream the audio via bluetooth.

This setup would also avoid any complications and potential trouble with third parties (for example the law / insurance companies during an accident, etc).

EDIT: Especially in England, I suspect things have only gotten worse in the last 16 years or so...

I added the Video in Motion (VIM) interface from NavTV so that my wife could watch DVDs with the car moving.

I find we don't use it very much. Better to get a tablet computer and good headphones, then you listen to what you want.
