  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have been a member of Club Lexus for about 13 years. I waved goodbye this week after replacing my GS350 with an R-Spec.

You may enjoy reading the posts of why the R-Spec 'Does not Handle Well', 'Poor Hyundai Reliability' and that it is 'Just a Hyundai'. Some posts were nice, others so bad the moderators had to step in.

I will never post there again. I am probably too old for Lexus to turn their act around to get my business again.

For your reading enjoyment.

LOL....haters gonna hate, always! :D

Parisian Gray was my second choice, in case I didn't like Titanium Gray ;)

The Parisian Gray was not available until 2014 Models.

Actually, it was in 2013 according to "my old salesman"

This is the car I was referring to; http://www.napletonsvalleyhyundai.c...-Genesis-ac9c0e0c0a0a0064269b6cf1de1a7096.htm

..don't mind the color mistake, it says "Grey", but I know that is Parisian Gray. Car has ~2500 miles on the clock.

On second though, it might be "2014 model", but the production date was September 2013

The picture that you linked to was definitely Titanium Gray. I know; I own a 2011 one. Here is a page from the Brochure of the 2013 Genesis and you will see that it is Titanium Gray.

Is there a huge difference in performance between the R Spec and the 4.6?

Nope, it was definitely Partisan Gray.

I had to dig into my trash folder to find pictures and email from him :D

Bottom one is my Titanium Gray.

Anyway....both look good! :grouphug:

The Genesis is called Partisan Gray. The vehicle is in stock, I will text you a photo shortly! Monday I am in at 9am, we usually have a meeting until 9:30/9:45 Monday mornings.

Take Care,

They are similar, but R-Spec is a 5.0 (bored out 4.6) with Direct Fuel Injection, so HP went from about 385 to 429. The 5.0 drops back to 420 for 2015 model. There is about a 7 HP difference depending on whether one uses regular or premium fuel.

Yes, it was. But then it was a 2014 !! So, you missed out on the Heated Steering Wheel.:)

Cut-Throat, the Club Lexus guys were easy on you. I was one of the 1st 2014 3IS (350 Fsport) owners and the 2IS guys would troll the forum about what a downgrade the 3IS is from the 2IS. It was like they had alerts set up for whenever someone posted a compliment about the 3IS.

I'd venture to say that Club Lexus is one of the worse forums I've ever been on -- at least the 3IS part of it is.

I owned a 2012 4.6. Great car. Not a problem. I just had issues with the ride/handling and the seats that the 3IS fixed. That said, I gave up a few luxury items as a trade off.

The answer is a definite yes! (decided to wait for another year to get the 2015 5.0 ultimate).

Having owned the 4.6 for 5 1/2 years (now belongs to the Mrs.), I can tell you although that the key for good handling on both models is a good set of tires, never the less, the R-Spec power & 8 speed make a huge difference both at the stoplight, and carving those corners at high speed.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologies to all 'ESC defeat' fans for the long absence, and for not sharing the 'remote control' details (since PINGGOLF departure :o), I will try to document the step by step process, when I implement the same process on the RSPEC.

No. You get a minor butt-dyno improvement. But in fact, even after the late 2012 TCU update, some still find the 6 speed transmission in the pre-2012 4.6's more responsive than the 8 speeds used in the 2012+ 4.6s and Rspecs. Especially with kick-down switch downshifting in the 15-40 mph range.

IMO...
When it comes to CORNERING performance, tires make more difference than drive trains or suspensions on the Genesis. In the corners, Pilot super sports on a 2009 will leave stock contis on a 2012 RSPEC in the dust. Then again, pilot super sports on the Rspec would be, of course, best

When it comes to RIDE, Rspec is better than 2009's rock hard ass-end. But the 2012 4.6 is the best of the <=2014 breed (better than Rspec).

I agree, 13 days in, I prefer the kick down from 2nd to first in the 4.6 at low speeds.

BUT a test at a stop light couple days ago, my brother was driving the R-spec (crappy stock tires) and I was Driving the Mrs. 4.6 (with the ECS defeat enabled=0 hesitation, in addition to decent tires), by time we hit 60 mph he was at least 150+ feet ahead... I would say at least 0.5 sec differential.

I am aware that does not translate to much during normal driving conditions, but over all, my impressions the R-spec does have the advantage as far as pure performance is concerned, that can be described more like a significant 'butt-dyno improvement' .

...

All I can say, can't wait to install the ESC defeat mod, so I can burn through those tires as soon as possible. ;)

Personally, the '2009's rock hard ass-end' does not bother me, due a short work commute and few long highway trips.

Welcome. I thought I recognized your name - came from the 3GS side of CL myself. I had massive CSP issues with the valve replacement and top end rebuild, so I picked up the Genny and am loving it. I hope you enjoy your new ride, though I think you will notice a big difference between the forums.

:welcome:

Yes, I have been a member of this forum for over 4 years now. I bought my First Genesis 4 years ago. I picked up my second one last week.:welcome:

Ah. Lol.

I've been a member on CL for almost 10 years. I recently purchased my genesis and couldn't be happier. Prior to the genesis I had SC's, and IS, and a GS. Glad you like the car and hope you enjoy your stay here.
